Hiding within a minefield

Inspired by the book 'Alarms of War', where a fleet of ships hides within a minefield.

Here's a random idea: Have minefields provide cloaking to allied ships within the minefield. (or treat the minefield like a nebula that hides ships)

I think that would be a cool idea! Obviously not actual cloaking but the other team(s) won't be able to see them until they are right on top of them.
