Galaxy Class Separation

Was reading the thread for the 2 button cloak idea, which I think is a great idea!  But noticed the small, and hated on subject of wants/unwants of the Galaxy Class Separation ability.  Well I had an interesting idea that might work on incorporating it into the game.  I've always felt the Galaxy was kind of lame when pressing his max level up into veteran.  It never really seemed worth it, it didn't get anything extra that really helped push it over the top.  But what if it got the Separation option as a kind of percentage chance when the ship was about to be destroyed?  That's right, what if at death, when pressed as a vet, the ship had some kind of small to medium percentage chance of surviving as just one randomly selected half of the ship's saucer or stardrive section's?  Sounds cool, but I'm not a modder, so I have no clue if this is anywhere near possible.  Let alone what people would think of it going beyond giving the Feds an advantage over the other powers.  And of course, their are other problems, but I'm sure you'll all address these issues as well...  Just wanted to put my two cents out there on this subject, and hopefully offer up a suggestively good idea.

Widely discussed, widely hated (not by me!) and will likely be included in the future as an occasional non-controllable ability for when a Galaxy is about to die. Despite having tactical uses, it's a big escape pod whose tacitcal uses are plot driven, and plot doesn't give advantages here.

Veteran Galaxy lame? How is firing directly through shields 'lame' in any way?

Haven't seen a Saucer sep thread for a while...

Lol.

  Your ideas are (in theory) something that supposedly will find it's way into the game down the road.  The Devs have said they don't hate Saucer Sep, it's just that it's not really a practical thing.  They said they'll figure something out when the timing presents itself :).



  And Vet Galaxy not worth it?  Torpedoes that go directly through shields and hit hull/subsystems are maybe one of the most stressful things you can have fielded against you.  They are beastly beasts :badgrin:

I dont hate it what i hate is the poeple that insert it wherever they want to and debate it for pages and pages and push subjects off topic with their trolling. Anyway that is clearly not you since you opened a new thread (not you tyler either :) ).

I think this is probably the 2nd biggest "request" by newcomers.  The first, obvious to most of us, is "I suggest you bring Cardassians back," or something to that affect. :-p  Don't let that sway you though, Grey.  The devs take suggestions and actually listen and participate in this mod.  I'm sure if someone brings it up enough *cough* ray *cough cough* (hehe...sorry ray, I had to! :-p ) it will be implemented.  I would like it to be in the game just for aesthetic purposes.

Interesting, I had no clue Galaxy got torps that shoot thru shields at pressed vet rank.  It's been so long since I even considered it because it seemed other Fed ships were getting extra advantages that were weighing in more.  I'll have to go back and play a game with one now.  When did they start implementing it, 3.1.3?

Also, lol Miles.  I spell my name with an 'E', not an 'A'.  But I see the funny in wordplay.

yep we do indeed have certain plans to include saucer seperation :) just not as an active ability which is used as a military pattern. It should maintain its emergency character

I would support a escape pod idea ... on death slow moving "saucer dish", has special: "Transmit Crew to other vessels": Give XP to allied vessel, on death, explode. Slow Moving and Beam weapons. ...

I dont think this option should be around, seperation is not a smart move, nor does in my opinion really do anything to safeguard the ship.

Gamewise, not much use while in battle (explaining the non-controllable part) but blasphemous to leave out. In canon, very useful out of battle and also sometimes in battle.

But we have enough 'Seperation pros & cons' threads already.
