Is there a hotkey that makes your units (particularly artillery or long range) force fire on a map location without an enemy?

a, but it only works for area-targeting units such as the Serkas. Other units will never fire on areas of space (tho I hav suggested such a feature to help with attacking cloaked ships.)

only specials that do area damage or weapons that do area damage can force fire on a location.

for specials (like plasma coil) just use the normal interface for firing specials.

for normal weapons with area damage (like serkas' quadcobalt) use the attack command (hotkey a) to bring up the attack cursor, then select a location (works for ships too). if the location is in range then it will fire. this is the most common way of leading shots with a serkas.

It would be awesome if torpedos could have an aoe if force fired on a location, but only very small, say 10% of a grid square across. As Neb said, would be fun cloak dection of a sort, and would be a cool way of trying to continu damaging cloaked ships as they retreat, especially a large fleet.
