Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Now I know that fleet operations is all about fleets, but what about a slight change, instead of giving ships a number (still keep this feature) but lets say for example I select a sov and then 4 sabres and tell them to group together, this then becomes one selectable unit, lets say like a wing, with all 5 ships going and attacking the same target, but as squadron together gives offensive and defensive bonuses.

we i know that it maybe hard but i was playing around with star trek vs babalyon 5 and some of the ships in that where able to be squadroned together.

Babylon 5 Armada 2 works by fusing 8 fighters into a single unit the same way the Cubes fuse into the Fusion Cube, it uses a single SOD and ODF just the model contains 8 separate fighters, it was kind of good, but it looks weird with all 8 fighters moving the exact same direction at the exact same distance from each other no matter what. The other problem was all 8 fighters are destroyed as one unit, I would like it if it was something a little more like the squads from Homeworld 2, Company of Heroes or Warhammer 40k Dawn of War, if a single ship is lost, it doesnt kill the whole unit and can be replaced fairly easily.

Yes, or the squads from Sins where one is designated a flagship.

first of all, either it is a attack wing and gets offensive bonus or they are some kind of defence line and get a defence bonus.
But for this you have to set up new rules for the boni system. Which ships combination will get a bonus.
Would be a bit weird.
And imoh fleets only get their full strenght if you mix up classes and support ships. Cause it's easy to blow up enemy fleets that are composed by only one or two ship types. So i think there is no need of squads.
In real fleets won't get more power if you name them a squad. But they can beat their enemy if the commander(you) use the abilities of the vessels in the right way and against the right enemy


maybe it is easier to controle a singel squad unit...but that's the only positive thing i see here.

I was just thinking that it would be a good idea and you hear sisko asking for squad (watever) to move at a certain speed or attack a bigger ship, just an idea as it would allow more than only 16 ships being controlled at one time, giving you more ships to attack someone with.
