okay, but i wasnt talking about graphics, i was talking about other things that have been discuessed, but have been deemed not possible because of the engine, and you had said that a game was hard to do but fast to make, so i just thought it mgith be easier to upgrade now

I ment writing the sentence "hey lets do a new engine" is fast to do, but to actually write a game is quite a hard task

i know  i dont understand modding, but isnt there a way to design a new engine, that you can do more types of things with, while still keeping the prooceeses or whatever needed to do the old workings, so that you can just put in a new more powerful ening that you can do more additions to the game with, so that you wouldnt have to write the game again, or find an easy way to convert it and make it compatable with a new engine

Yes you can make a new engine but like i said it takes large companies like activision or EA years to write one.

Ray, what games have you played that have involved 4 fleets? I'm envious, as I have constant battles from start to finish, usually involving less than 10 ships in each stage. ...and to mention cloaking, don't you harass ever? It takes a long time (and it is expensive) to get cloak detection stuff (for the Borg, however, it is a little too easy I believe... perhaps this should be looked at as the sight range is ridiculous, hint hint, nudge nudge  :sweatdrop:). Early game with romies or kling is essentially hit and run, cloaking in mining outfits with 6-12 K'vorts and Rhienns etc. Even late game, a few Tavaras, Norexans and Generix's dropped in a half-prepared fleet is damning. The only race I have problems against with anti-cloak stuff is the Borg actually. If you are playing hard, and fighting for everything (rather than relying on a map with huge resources and few players), you never really get a chance to build up a fleet of "48 ships" and maintain it.

well on daka corridor i defiently get alot, but just on maps in general, i usually get 2-3 fleets, and each fleet is 16 so 2*16=32, and its so easy to detect cloaks, which is partially why i dont use roms, but you can see where the cloaked shipos are and how many ships, right off in the begining, and see where the attack is comming, and then its jsut one reserch thing for a scan, howeer if cloak is going ot be harder to detect, no cloaking race, not borg, need something extra special as well

Play against Mark, le_Deimos, Rhaz, or maybe me and I guarantee that you will very rarely get that many ships... likewise if you are money starved enough and are actually fighting for your base, you will probably never even dream of researching an extra research option. If you are busy enough, and need that one extra ship, the anti-cloaking ability can seem to cost a fortune (not to mention, having to use it at the exact right time... or with the correct vessel in the correct location).

i not in the mode to nit pick at everything you have said as it would take forever but for starters...

1. The Flops team have actually in one sense made their own Engine, it runs on top of the Armada2 Engine and injects their new classlabels and commands that bring us lovely things such as warp in and that alone ahs taken years, so trying to build something on a bigger scale is jsut crazy unless you got over £200,000 spare or more...

2. For an example of how long it takes to make an OS or engine from scratch even with a Dev team a lot larger than Flops check out Frontpage - ReactOS Website and maybe your understand the scale involved

3. The armada2 Engine isnt that restricted and eaily allows them to inject their own engine on top that brings us revamped AI that cna cloak so plenty of things are possible, when they say it isnt they usually meant he time it would take to create and impliment

4. Why would you want more slots on the warp in, i thought you arguement was smaller ships

5. If you played any of us, before you even got the first tachyon research level going you would of lost your mining based on what your saying, leaving you with no resource to research it...

6. Daka Corridor has a rediculous amount of moons...

7. You want more mciromanagement and from the sounds of it you cant micromanage a tin can...

8. opps i did take your argument apart in the end

9. come online and play with us so we can share our experiences
