I was looking at some of the torpedo .odf files and i noticed in the main photon.odf there is a line of code, restrictFireArc = 0 Now i remember in A1 the restrictArc was a feature but it thought it was gone from A2. Now the question i have is. I am working on a cannon Sovereign for either the standard A2 or my install of FleetOps. The FleetOps mod is fantastic and it is easier to make cannon ships than with the Standard A2 engine. But back to my question. The rapid fire quantum torpedo launcher on the sovereign can rotate 15 degrees to port or starboard. now can i restrict the firing arc to 15 by using restrictFireArc = 1 and then fireArc = 15. Because I tried it and the quantums still fired aft. how does A2 determine where 0 degrees and 90 degrees and 180 degrees are on the ships axis? Does anyone know. If we could incorporate the restrictArc feature. Ships could be equipped and made near cannon and without having every phaser or torp launcher firing at the same time. Any thoughts? Not sure if this the right section but this is a feature i would like to see in the next beta's either 3.0 or 4.0, if possible.

hm as far as i know if you put 18 for the fire arc it would mean 360 degree angel (180 left and 180 right). of you want to limit the arc to 15 degre (in total) you woul have to set 0.75 .. but i haven't tested that much

thanx Optec. i appreciate it. the 0.75 thing worked. now the quantums only fire forward 15 degrees from port to starboard. Now Im assuming that to get a torp launcher or phaser to fire aft it would have to be a negative number so to get a torpedo to fire only 15 degrees port or starboard aft-facing would be fireArc = -0.75. Right? Anyone with any thoughts thanx a lot.

+0.75 should be the same as -0.75

Well based on the numbers of 0.75 being 15 degrees and 18 being 360 i have calculated the numbers for weapon arcs now the numbers all match. But these will only give arcs forward-port and forward starboard. 0.0 being directly ahead 0.75 being 15 degrees off the axis to port or starboard:

00.00 = 0 degrees port or starboard forward
+00.75 = 15 degrees port or starboard forward
+01.50 = 30 degrees port or starboard forward
+02.25 = 45 degrees port or starboard forward
+03.00 = 60 degrees port or starboard forward
+03.75 = 75 degrees port or starboard forward
+04.50 = 90 degrees port or starboard forward
+05.25 = 105 degrees port or starboard forward
+06.00 = 120 degrees port or starboard forward
+06.75 = 135 degrees port or starboard forward
+07.50 = 150 degrees port or starboard forward
+08.25 = 165 degrees port or starboard forward
+09.00 = 180 degrees port or starboard forward
+09.75 = 195 degrees port or starboard forward
+10.50 = 210 degrees port or starboard forward
+11.25 = 225 degrees port or starboard forward
+12.00 = 240 degrees port or starboard forward
+12.75 = 255 degrees port or starboard forward
+13.50 = 270 degrees port or starboard forward
+14.25 = 285 degrees port or starboard forward
+15.00 = 300 degrees port or starboard forward
+15.75 = 315 degrees port or starboard forward
+16.50 = 330 degrees port or starboard forward
+17.25 = 345 degrees port or starboard forward
+18.00 = 360 degrees port or starboard forward

lol why could it not just be simple and have 00.01 as 1 degree and 01.80 being 180 degrees!?

I don't know Eufnoc, but I just tried to use negative numbers instead of postive numbers and the torps didn't fire at all. it made the sound but didn't fire so.... I'm still trying to figure out how to get weapons to fire aft only.
