Currently in Fleet Ops (And basic Armada 2) fleeted ships will usually target the same ship after the other they where all focussed on is destroyed, is it possible make each ship target a different object, or make them target a certain amount per enemy object depending on the threat it is?

I think the targetting has been improved (not sure if this was just an idea or not though...) by having each class of ships target a specific class in turn ^-^
Not quite perfect, but it's getting better

Hmm, it does look more realistic for ships to each be going after their own targets, but it is better in terms of gameplay to focus your fleet on 1 ship at a time as you can more quickly reduce the enemies weapons which are firing back at you.

to be honest though, I'd prefer seperate targets :|

In the show, they picked their own targets and had to be instructed to focus on one ship, that made battles look better, longer, more interesting and gives the smaller fleet a better chance.

I 'gree.  I'm simply saying that there's not much point if you can manually target ships weapons anyway, it would simply lead to more micromanagement=more destruction, which takes away some of the strategy.  What would be nice is if, due to various reasons such as limits on proximity etc, it would actually be impossible, or at least difficult, to get all the ships to target a single vessel.  then it would make sense for them to just go ahead and pick their own targets.

Maybe creating a command that limits how many ships can target a specific enemy ship. Say you have the Sovereign class, two Defiants and a Galaxy. and the enemy battle group has 11 ships...The Sovereign would have a line in its odf like "limittarget = 4" where the number would mean only four ships at a time can target a Sovereign Class, the Galaxy might have "limittarget = 3",meaning three ships can target a Galaxy class at one time and then the Defiant class ships would have "limittarget = 2" and each Defiant would have 2 ships targeting them..so four of the enemy ships would target the Sovereign, three would target the Galaxy, and 2 would target each Defiant. Sort of how the "maxbuildable = XXX" limits the number of a certain ship that you can build.

that would be a lot of maths for amrada when there are big ships involved which would mean crash...

specially since the loader false injects the code into armada so it would be ultra hevay for it...

It also means that it would be impossible to focus fire if you wanted to.  I agree that the 'gangbang' effect sucks hard, but IIRC it's an AI issue, and those are the hardest kinks to hammer out.  If the FO team finds a miracle fix, that'd be awesome.  If not, ah well.  They've done more than enough work to make this little annoyance a nonissue.

only beam modules add multi targeting. if you want focused fire, just install torpedo modules instead :)

...and don't forget firing at different parts of an enemy ship. It really sucks when they all attack the same point and it gets pixelated  :(

Yeah, 5 Phasers just hitting one point of my sovy....and it´s a ship which is not the smallest

Just imagine: Multiple shield impacts and effects  :woot:

Well, I do know that there are multiple shield impacts... but usually only if the attacking ships are at significantly different angles from eachother... anything extra would be definitely great  ooo at different effects too !  :woot:

Also just thinking... what if big ship explosions hurtled smaller ships away; just like when they lose engines and randomly float around  :D

A very good point, Dom! :)

Like a surfer on a wave...of course, with some kind of damage...and pushing the smaller vessels away

ya I like that like the klingon weapon (special ship) and it would disable the engines and push the ships away
