Finding Cloaked Ships And Tmp Ships

Well, I know this is a little soon after my other post but I'm good with making ideas but im an idiot at modding. You cant help watching Nemisis and getting an idea from the part where picard fired phasers in a circles around the enterprise to find the scimitar (there is a technical term but im too lazy to put DVD in). I thought this would be valuable to find cloaked ships if you dont have any ships with tachyon fields with ya. You could attach it to all the largest ships in every race to find those romulans and klingons who want you dead=). Also, you could make it into another speacial weapon for the science ship or 1 or 2 other class of ships in all the races that dont have speacial weapons. Could someone tell me if this is possible?

My other idea is really a question, since I love what you did with the D7 and K'vort(gotta love firing a torpedo or 2 while cloaked), are you gonna be putting in any Federation TMP ships such as miranda class and excelsior? Also would they include the oh so loveable TMP Phasers like the ones on ST II: Wrath of Kahn?

The Excelsior is already in fleetops, but as optec and doca have said b4 the old ships for the feds are warp in ships. and they have also said that the feds tend to get over powered in a mod since peole know more about them and this game is about ballence.

Well first off the excelsior in game is the excelsior 2 which I dont recall to be a cannon ship. Secondly, I believe the miranda or excelsior could only be a challenge for lighter escort ships and light cruisers. You dont see many (ANY) excelsior 2s in star trek films or tv shows but you see alot of mirandas and even more excelsiors...especially in TNG.

dude... the Enterprise B was an excelsior 2... and than terez one step up that is still cannon wich is teh lakota varient.

yeah, if ur gonna re do any fed ships please let it be the excelsior it doesnt realy look like the excelsior class.

the old ships, like miranda, constitution, ambassador, constellation, oberth.. and what ever you can imagine, won't be buildable ships. If you open a new Federation Outpost no admiral would start with producing miranda class vessels :)

well, perhaps there will be a scrapyard tileset, where you can find old vessels derelict and board them.

Well I suppose thats better then me having to adjust to the people who want the newest and the most powerful ships in star trek modding community, even if TMP ships have been upgraded over the years in the star trek world and are a match for light cruisers and small craft. Now will you be adding TMP Phasers to these ships and could you also find out if its possible to do what Enterprise E did on Nemisis with the Phasers looking for cloaked scimitar? :)

Or like voyager did in that one episode in season two to find the alien vessel in the reflecting asteroid (or whatever :))

Never saw that 1 but it looked like a good one by that pic. Now if theres a mission that you make where you get 1 intrepeid class and theres 1 enemy ship and you both somehow get stuck in a reflective asteroid with HUGE mirrors capable of reflecting a phaser blast...what you say could work. What I ment was when picard was forced out of warp by the scimitar and he told worf to do a 0 elevation phaser burst or whatever to find the scimitar. With ships not being able to go up or down in this mod, that could be extremely useful if ships just cloaked around you and you forgot to research tachyon fields.

yep, but if you forgot to research tachion grid it's your fault :) the romulan player would be very angry if you killed his cloaked fleet just by this ability without spending resources on it. it would make cloak weak, and we do not want this :) so: no! :)

Well first off, you seem to take things too one sided. When you use this, in my mind, you only get to get the ship uncloaked once and only do one phaser burst worth of damage against the unshielded hull and you'll prolly only get 1 chance to get more then 3 ships uncloaked...thats how I picture it anyway. Secondly, your gonna have an extremely hard time trying to figure out if there are any ships even cloaked near your ship with the anti cloak phaser burst as I would call it. This is an extremely scaled down form of the tachyon field. I personally would like to take the tachyon field off of the game because it seems like its too easy to find cloaked ships. It makes the whole idea of cloaking a fleet to send at an enemy impossible. Id personally like the klingons and romulans to take advantage of what they take advantage of on the shows. In the shows and movies you see ships sneakin around all over the place and the federation had almost no way to change that. Now if we could do away with what I think of as the major Armada II prob of having it impossible to have cloaked ships do much more then run off into a fleet with a venture and blown up, this could be alot more strategized of where you want to put ships and stations. All I can think up right now is the more trek like ideas of only being able to detect a cloaked ship if it came really close to your own ships and using my anti cloak phaser burst idea if you could find someway to know a ships in the area but you just dont know where. So, really by NO MEANS am I trying to weaken the cloak, but actually I aim to strengthen it. Once again you think that i just want 1 ship to have this ability automatically when your able to build it....WRONG. I want 1-2 ships on each side to have it and I want it to be a special ability you have to research. Federation= :ph34r: Romulans= :lol: If this dosent impress you then i dont know what will, took me an half-an-hour to think up the stuff in this and if you dont like it then I guess im gonna have to go back to my trekless Freelancer mods.

P.S. Could you please answer all my questions with 1 post? Are you gonna add TMP Phasers to the older ships if and when you put them in in some form? :sweatdrop:

i like your idea, but the thing is that your idea is going behind armadas possiblities to be modded, but let's wait what optec says, he does the odf etc things :)

sure, when we add tmp ships there will be also tmp phasers for them :)

Well I hope he will at least give me the phaser I love. I'm not quite sure what you mean when you said that I would go behind the possibilities of armada 2 to be modded. I'm not sure if you realized this but I think Fleet Ops is a mod :) . I know what I said would change a HUGE aspect of the game but thats why this is called a beta ;)

my fault, just wanted to say that i don't think armada can not be modded that far to make a phaser beam looking for cloaked vessels
