Federation Warp-In Only
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

I was thinking, since the Federation is so spread out, warp-in should be a bigger part of their gameplay.
It would be interesting if all the shipyards were replaced with fleet relay stations.
Then you would put in a call for fleet support, such as a squad of sabers. Then 5 sabers warp in.
The cost to warp-in should be the same as it would cost to build them at a shipyard.
The cooldown of the warp-ins should match the build time those ships would normally have.
This could even be done for supply. Have freighters warp in and dock with the starbase, then warp out.
This form of warp-in would have to be limited to line-of-sight to avoid ships warping past base defenses.
Since shipyards would be removed, there should be a repair yard, maybe one with multiple dock points.
I think this matches the style of the Federation since they build almost everything at earth solar system.
This seems more realistic as well, since ships are not actually built and completed during a battle.
Any thoughts?

I disagree. Warp in for the feds is support oriented, not intended to replace the construction yard setup.
Plus, we neednt forget that all other races warp in their ships too, as most kling and rommuie yards are not at the front either
(in canon I mean).
Overkill with warp in would be no fun, add ships too fast (or too slow depending on how u look at it), and diminish the uniqueness that warp in currently bring with it.
Hence I prefer the game as is.

Why wouldn't an empire build ships in the safety of their base? Plus, Warp-In is a distress call feature rather than a ship construction one.

Seems one of these threads always pops up for either Borg or Federation every few weeks...

cos most ppl use the feds and are overly enthusiastic.
most ppl cannot use the borg and want ways and means around it. Some ppl who are able to use them, are interested in seeing eye candy....ahem
And no one finds the klings or roms or dom to be in need of anything major as the current style brings out the true nature of those races very well.
We have seen the dominion extra resource thread, but that was about it, cos the dominion is now pretty true to the Dominion nature.
With the kbeaqj and kvort improvement the klings are true to theirs.
And as far as the rommies go, they are very true to their cowardly roots atm. :cloak:
So most ppl like contributing and posting their views - some agreeable, some not... while others like condescending cos of its psychologically cathartic compensation
it's all good in a community as diverse as ours, and adds to the overall array of ideas from which our mods can selectively improve the game. I like exchanging ideas in our forum's threads- some that initially seem to be redundant to some, actually have been expanded upon by our mods to incorporate features that are really pleasing. We just add our 2 cents based on how we perceive them. doesnt make the idea daft or great - just implemented or passed over.

I know it is just a support feature right now.
I like it, but it loses significance later in the game.
Sure it gives you the Descent, but any shipyard could be made to do that.
I think it would cause players to think a lot about what ships they will call in, because they have to commit to them, unlike a shipyard where you can change your build orders at any time.
I'm just throwing out ideas for adding more diversity to the different races.
I'm sure there are lots of great ideas out there that people haven't voiced.
The way I see it, the more different the races become from each other, the better.
The FleetOps team has done so well, I think they could make just about anything work if they wanted to.
I mean, look how much awesome they gave the Borg!
