What about adding probes to the larger classes of federation ships. The federation is always probe crazy on tv. Maybe have some classes that can fire a probe ( targeted or just foward) that cane detect cloke for a short range, or maybe give some kind of a warning if a buff/debuff is found. Maybe even just drop a probe like the borg snesor relay.

Had them on the Canaveral, they were removed for some reason.

I hope they appear like that in the redo. I think Canaveral lost it since it was basically a free scout that was indestructible IIRC.

You know that was a pretty fun ability so I'm confident it will return somewhere down the road

You can still get it if you have Romulan mix tech. I think it is a good idea that could be expaned on.

probes are good. some ships could have simple probes, which are destroyed by enemy ships on red alert.
advanced probes would be invisible and not targetted at all.
i liked the probe

Smaller ships: Probe targetable, its a scout but one that does the second anything sneezes at it.
Larger ships, mostly the same, but probe is faster, longer range, better scan range.
But past that, have them available to ALL fed ships, just have the spec energy drain be way higher on smaller ships, while the big explorers like the Galaxy would be able to spam them almost as quick as the rate of fire allows .
Prehaps give those bigger ships more and more probe abilties, IE: stationary probe that acts as a sensor relay, and dies on first hit, stationary tachyon gride probe, only works if nearby other tachyon probes.

probes for all feddies? no. that would be horrible. feds could explore the whole map in seconds, spamming probes into the enemy territory, who needs scouts then? probe should be something u use less often.

Well warpins at least.
The Galaxy is a large explorer, the Nebula with the weapons pod (called a refit for some reason when its just a modular pod) could launch them, have those be the main probe users prehaps, as they're limited in availability unless you take the time to rank up a fleet of them (by which time the opponent usualy just quits in frusteration......... seems people get mad if you build a ring of torpedo turrets around their base, even if you're nice enough to leave them a moon pair to make use of.)

The Nebula doesn't have a modular pod, that would imply it can be replaced. The sensor/weapon pods are varients on a single design. Which is the original version is unknown, so FO apparently picked the sensor pod.
For probe users, I prefer the Canaveral that originally had it. It suits its purpose as a support ship, and also goes well with its sensor themed specials. The Weapon Nebula doesn't suit this ability; it's a warship version of the Nebula.

They were removed because they allowed you to see into mutara nebulae better than anything in the game. Man that was an excellent counter to borg abusing nebulae

That wasn't why they were removed
