Fed platforms-even out defense before and after somewhat

Make unupgraded platform have a higher defense, and upgraded have lower. Reason is that so you don't need to immediately upgrade and once upgraded the turret won't suddenly soak up damage like a sponge.
Also, give the turret, now with lower defense, a defense upgrade option. This way it can still be a good ol' Feddy turret if necessary.

i dont like this, its dirt cheap as it is, last thing we need is for it to be harder to kill. i like it being weak, it gives a much needed vulnerability to a very effective federation turret system.

In my humble oppinion. The turret takes way to long to build.
My suggestion would be:
Give the turret a slightly faster build time. Say like 10% less build time
But because we can now build turrets a little faster,
we should pay a little more for the turret's construction.
Say like 25 - 50 percent. (Whatever figure is best of course)
This does seem much. But if I recall correctly, the base turret costs 100 di and 50 tri.
So paying 150 di and 75 tri isn't a heck lot more. just enough to offset the faster build time.
Might this be a good idea?

I would like to see platform resource cost go up a little, but not faster build time.

I wouldn't like that. Finally the Fed turrets are balanced, don't change them again. They are quite nice once upgraded, but beatable. The best option you have against them is to prevent the Federation from building them in the first place. It should stay that way, since the upgrading itself doesn't take time at all.

The only reason I could see decreasing the build time for a platform would be if the upgrade to a turret itself took a "refit time".

I like that, because I think it's a little strange that once you have a platform it can turn into whatever you want with just one click... It would also make fed-turrets a little more 'fair' since they are usually powerful for being up that fast.

Yes however even I realized that there is a drawback to a "refit time".
Right now cloakers will sit by and then attack un-developed plats. While my initial desire to see a refit time was to prevent empty platform stacking, I can see how it would be difficult and even broken for a torpedo turret to start refitting, only to have a bunch of cloakers decloak and destroy it before anything can be done.
It's not super easy .... but right now I feel that, if you can upgrade the thing while it's taking some damage, you still get a great bang for your buck and your enemy has to decide "do I continue to fight a phaser turret that's at 50% health while losing a ship or two, or do I now run?
