sawnds intresting its weth a triy. but one whood not wont tham to get to stong. just minarly beter. we dont wont a ship to get so strong it can distoy a star bace all by its self.


Yes, agreed. I was thinking more along the lines of Warcraft III if you ever played that. A level 10 hero unit was good, but could not wipe everything in the game.

so basically a miningship that can stripdown the hull of another ship. hmm are they usefull for the game? i mean if you know soemone has it, i would send a fleet to destroy them. usually mining ships are easy to kill so i donno if that special skill is very handy. i mean just mining sounds easier and less troublesome 

It doesn't, but it makes good self-defence. I was thinking that you could either put that on a few of the capital ships or edit there weapons so it had the same effect....

It is possible to do that whole Expierence gaining thing, but the way the Armada Engine works now it would be for all ships not just one individually that is the way the odf's and source work out. But mabey it could be saying like that the expirienced crew like have crew and expirienced crew and that a modify button (as it would have to be buildable as the computer can't hand player build functions) and you could modify level from these it would be hard though because you would have to set the mining speed and each and every ship and object that could

a. give exp
b. gain exp

would have to have an odf cluase setting it for having the recouce and also if it is going to gain the exp. it would have to have a mining odf like the planet miners but that si just my suggestion if we are really thinking about implementing this...oh and the sprite for the beam could just be invisible so no-one would notice it and classify as a special weapon (of course unless you tell the ship to either "gain exp." or have the special weapon autonomy on high, then we run into other problems. but this could be used as a basis
