I think electronics in the 24th century have worked their way past electronics in the 20th century.

Those fluctuations were usually caused by faulty equipment, not an outside source...

Yeah the shields are not only gravimetric but electromagnetic as well, I remember some references to their absolute invulnerability to lasers (EM) and thats why phasers were invented ...

well the physics dont make sins if thay stoped lasers we shood not be abul to see thow tham. lasers are just lite.

and star terk cases the lows physics per episode. so i whood say its up to the desiners.

thats why SW would never win they use lasers, lasers can't get though shields, and its a different univserse where the force in gone, so they would be killed.

Actually, if memory serves, TNG did have some weapons/anomalies that completely drained power from a ship for a period of time.

While i dont think these were EM-based weapons, i think they were used to create some kind of energy-dampening field (a good example is that used in 'Night Terrors' [TNG-S4]). :) Thus basically preventing any high powered electrical system (or what ever form of power used in the 24thC) from working for a time being, including engines, sheilds and weapons.
