Hey,

I just watched the Voyager episode 'Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy'. Basically the doctor lives out fantasies of being more than his role as EMH. One of these being the ability to become the 'ECH' (Emergency Command Hologram). This role would mean that in the event of a ships crew becoming incapacitated the EMH could become the ECH and effectively take control of the ship and in theory 'save the day'.

I am proposing that a similar variant be introduced: the 'ERH' or the Emergency Repair Hologram. In the event of a Federation ship losing all crew due to life support failure (providing enough special power is still intact) the player could activate the hologram and the ship would automatically be sent to the nearest repair yard.

I don't really know how it could be implemented effectively, but it's just an idea. Hope you like it :D

I doubt it'll be possible.

I think these already exist....

EMH = Emergency Medical Hologram
ECH = Emergency Command Hologram
EEH = Emergency Engineer Hologram
EDH = Emergency Distress-Call Hologram
ETH = Emergency Transprot Hologram (for evacuating the ship)

Oh right, so how come you don't think it would be possible?

Balancing issues etc?

I personally think it cause major probs having a ship with all its crew dead and yet still fighting... that to me is just plain spooky... :dead:

More like the game itself is the problem... What happens when a ship falls derelict? It becomes scenery.

It could be limited to just one ship? The Remore or Intrepid possibly?

If you want it sucessfully done... you have more chances with SFC3...

not to keep fighting, more like a auto "send me to a shipyard and get recrewed" kinda thing.

that could be neat.  shields up just enough to keep enemy beam ins at bay, maybe a transport scrambler.  the ship would HAVE to get to a yard, get recrewed b4 it could re-join the fight.

ive seen stuff be "dead in space" and say there is 1 on board.  i think it is a glitch or soemthing, but that 1 could be the ECH

just me thinking again

I think this is an awesome idea, but I think somehow it should be chance based. After all someone of the remaining crew would have needed the foresight to activate the program before they died/beamed off. There should still remain the possibility of having a ship entirely dead in the water. After all if life support fails, then any emergency hologram might also fail to function...

Why wouldn't it work? They don't need Life Support to function...

Yeah but it requires power, which may also fail. And if everyone is dead, who activates the program?

The Computer could easily activate it when the crew's lifesigns cannot be detected, Starfleet ships are highly automated already. I'd link it to the Special Energy rather than Life Support.

Not a bad idea... special energy would be drained by the Emergency Hologram until it runs out or makes it back to the repair yard.
