Dominion Super Carrier from DW

I'm sure many people will be aware of this popular design from Dominion Wars (for those unaware, consult the DW website Here and go to ship files, it's the class-5 dominion ship), especially thanks to the fantastic model Achillies made for it. I occoured to me that due to fleet Operations' nature and focus on specialist vessels, the Super Carrier would had a shining opptunity to enjoy a really true-to-form rendition, taking into account Gizmo's background for it as opposed to being merely "another big battleship", and as usual, my mind went on a little tangent. The result is the concept i present below, which if used could be either added to the techtree or inserted as an "uncommon" ship as the team see fit.
Dominion Super Carrier: Foward fleet Support
Offensive/Defensive/system values: All relatively high (though not as high as the dreadnought and the like from other races).
Costs: Again, quite high, with several credits required. Also has a large crew (somewhere in the 1000-1500 region).
Godawfully slow (like the hyperspace artillery)
Specials:
In conclusion, what we're looking at here is not a front-line warship, but in fact a mobile starbase. Yes it has good OFF/DEF values, but its far too slow to be effective on the attack (for which faster, even stronger ships like the Dreadnought are better suited).
Instead the super carrier is designed for those players who like the traditional, stereotypical Jem'Hadar "Unleash the Horde!" tactic. It takes up position just outside the battlezone; a temporary strongpoint where reinforcments can rally safely and ships from the front can return to get repaired/recrewed (the latter especially useful if you've been using Alpha Ketracel alot). If you do have the patience to escort her into en engagement, then she makes a good "troop transport from hell", and if you've just managed to bag an enemy ship or station then she's a bloody godsend!
Her additional ability to produce supplies (representing her on-board KW plant) means your yards are able to build ships more often too (potentially you could build two destroyers a minute using the supply from this ship).
So yeah, what this is designed to be is an alternative to the HA, focused more on helping the rest of the fleet rather than fighting itself, and is good for players who like to build big swarms of ships, as well as capitalising on any gains made, whether it be territory or captured ships/stations).
As always, opinions/comments welcome people.

- Cloning Facility (passive) - ship can be recrewed like a station
- Ketracel White factory (passive) - provides supplies to Dominion players (around 1 supply point per 5 seconds)
- Repair teams - transport over to nearby ships to assist in repair assingments (10% SW cost)

i like. could it have some light fighters for a little help with escort? that would be good... i think.

yes. great idea. It'll be a dominion version of the Tavara.
Plus it'll bolster the otherwise mundane Dom fleet config in FO.
also, it'll be canon.
AND make the Dominion side more playable - I dont know abt everyone else, but once the Borg come into V3, and all the other sides have been revamped, the dominion seems to be a neglected derelict which we've become bored with (compared to the new Borg, and revamped klings, roms and feds).
A revamped Dominion tree with Cards available under the Weyoun Avatar, plus this Massive cruiser would certainly make the Dom side more fun.
In fact, a revamping of the Dominion tech trees would be make the game much more fun that any of the hash for Asteroid tractoring and nebula research!

it is an god aweful, ugly design though. if you want it you are quite welcome to the model and are free to make any changes.

if you are looking for the big, centralised window dont bother, technically Dominion ships shouldn't have windows... Lets say the Dominion are the first smart species to stick the command center in a heavily protected area.

Not entirely. Yes it may recrew like the Tavara, but they are built for completly different tasks. The Tavara would be far more powerfull than a Super Carrier in a straight fight, so if you tried to use the SC like you use the Tavara, it would be destroyed and be a waste of resources. It's designed to follow behined and repair/recrew fleets post-battle instead of fighting itself.
The Tavara spearheads fleets (and can also be a fleet on its own), but the Super Carrier tags along behined fleets. It must be thought of more as a station with engines than a warship in order to be effective.
I disagree about the Dominion being neglected. IIRC they're getting the dreadnought (aka the Dominion Battleships you see in "What you Leave Behined") in V3 through their mixed-tech (which is another reason why i didn't make the SC ultra-powerfull; that will be the dreadnought's job).

Umm, didn't Weyoun die for good in DS9 (the founder said it was "the final clone"), and the Cardassians completly turned on the Dominion (hence Damar's rebellion).
Would you really continue to serve an ally if he had occupied your space, manipulated your goverment, gave away your territories to your old enemies (Breen), gave superior command to your old enemy, supressed your people, shown clear racism towards your people, used your navy and soldiers as cannon fodder, and then to top it all levelled a city of millions simply to prove that they could? (<- the Dominion did all of these to the Cardassians in DS9).
I'm sure they'd be a tiny fraction of Cardassians that still believed in the Dominion (like the Damar replacement in WYLB), of course, but they'd probably be either extremists or gullible. The vast majority of their people would likely be against the Dominion now.

I was hoping to have the actual super cruiser incorporated. Your idea for this ship is cool, but we need a battleship for the Dominion - like the one in "Valiant". If they're getting that as you say, then that's all I was looking for in the Super vessel department.
we are all familiar with the end of DS9. But if we want to be hardcore canon fans, we would also need to take into account the fact that Odo has joined the Link. Would the Dominion still be hostile or bellicose after that?
Would the Dominion be in the alpha quadrant with the feds, roms and borg.... What about the Borg virus that Janeway deployed to completely cripple the collective.
we'll go nuts computing the possibilities.
Most of us play FO for a little fun. Would removing a known figure such as Weyoun or a known race such as the Cardassians simply in order to be "canon", would cull the enjoyment.
Maybe it's just me, but it would be fun to control Galors and Keldons - if we want we could include them in the Mixed tech tree for the Dominion when they capture a Klingon or Romulan construction ship
I'm sure no one would object if Keldons were part of the Dominion mixed tech tree when capturing a Romulan construction ship, or Galors being available when capturing a Klingon construction ship.

Personally I'd rather have an NPC, a specific map, or mercenaries give Keldons and Galors rather than them being incorporated into the Dominion...

One slight note. Weyoun or the Cardassians haven't been REMOVED. They just haven't been INCLUDED. So don't go saying they've been removed, and it's LESS fun now, because that's wrong. They were never part of it, so there's no difference if they aren't in it now. So would you like to explain how it's culling the enjoyment? :-P
In the end though, it is up to DocaCola and Optec. I would be surprised if the Cardassians were completely left out of FleetOps, so I say stop asking, be patient, just wait and see. :-)

I'm sorry. Allow me to clarify.
When I said they were removed, I was referring to their absence. As in removed from being played as FO's plans now stand.
When you say, they haven't been included, semantics aside, it basically means the same thing in the absence of any clarification of context.
When referring to culling the enjoyment, I was referring to having them vs not - again in reference to the context.
You are right that it is upto Doca cola and Optec, which is why I was reiterating my wish to have them included. I'm sure we are all patient, and are all waiting to see; and quite frankly don't see why then any third party would like to interject in requests made to the actual Mods.
I agree that my Galor-Kling request was a stretch. But Keldons were outfitted by the Roms with cloaking devices, and it is speculated that they could have been developed by the Obsidian Order with the help of the Tal Shiar.
I'm sure it would be an equal stretch to say that Miranda IIs are linked to the Dominion in some way, given that Mirandas have been around even before we even saw the Doms. But we have them cos it is fun, and we did have Mirandas used a lot against the Dom in DS9.
So let's not over-dissect an issue just for the sake of it. It comes off a little belittling

I could make a argument that this is not a ship its a can opener. I bet it opends bears very well!

who knows. Maybe the designers of DomWars actually were inspired by a Can opener over a couple of beers.
