Dominion AI (mainly)

Just a short post, but I felt it didn't really fit under anyone elses :ermm:  (<-- Why did I not see that smiley before?!)

Ahem, yes, basically I reckon the Dom. AI is a bit too heavily reliant on those torpedo cruisers of theirs (I use "cruiser" loosly). I think it would make more sense for them to be fielding far higher numbers of bug ships, it's just their style.
And if that *is* changed, it would probably mean a balancing change that would encourage the same behaviour in MP - say increasing both the cost and stats of the torp ships, and god knows what of the bug ships to change.

...yeah.

That may be more close to their "Style" in the universe but a fleet of bugs would get wiped out easily by a couple of sovy's so it wouldnt make sense for the game unless the bugs got a stat boost and that's not something I think should be done. As it is the bug ships are destroyers with that new awesome ramming ability they are pretty formidable. But even in the shows they are not much larger than the defiant and the defiant is classified as a destroyer also so I think their current implementation is about as accurate to the universe as anyone could have hoped for while maintaining good balance in the game ....IMHO.

I think the Dominion would build a few battleships (like 8), and then have a fleet of 40 bugs. And about 10 of them would be used for ramming ships. THAT is what Dominion truely is! Though I never seen AI use mixed tech yards. The Ops officers should someday get to that.

I like this idea. Small ships should be build in higher numbers.

If you play several hours and look on the statistics afterwards, you can see that hundreds of battleships were built, but only a few "bugships".
