Would it be possible to code different docking scripts instead of the straight in-and-out that has been around since stock? I have a few different kinds.

Docking Animation 2: "Back-out"
Purpose: Trade Stations, and stations with docking systems similar to DS9's docking ring
Movements: Ship pulls in facing forward and locks into the dock. The exact hardpoint that would be intended as the location of where the ship would 'Lock-in' would be defined in its odf. To get out, the dock releases it and it backs outward, and once clear, flies out to its next destination.

Docking Animation 3: "Landing"
Purpose: Shuttle Craft, Runabouts, Worker Bees
Movements: The ship first comes to a full stop above the platform, then gently lowers till it lands on the platform. Orientation of landing can be defined by the rotation of the hardpoint defined for the landing position. When it leaves.... it 'Takes off' like a shuttle craft normally would.

Docking Animation 4: "Enclosed Repair"
Purpose: Repairing in enclosed areas
Movements: The ship comes to a full stop in front of the repair bay. Then it gets guided in side ways (as if pulled in my tractor beams) into the enclosed space. When it leaves, it is guided outward in a similar manner and then flies off when clear of the station.

This is simply more or less to give a greater variety, and more realism. With these it would keep things aesthetically interesting even in the minor things.

Those would be good to see, though the landing one is already used by Worker-Bees. Might be tough to do.

I think this would add to the overall feel of the game. Good suggestion.

It might not get done as high prioroty though, since it's not really required to play but it'd be nice to see it :D
