Disabled / destroyed subsystem effects

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Basically I'd like to see some cool visual effects on vessels when certain subsystems go out. One effect I thought was cool on the shows was when the nacelles get damaged and blink on and off in a fluctuating manner. Having this effect when engines go out would be sweet.

Post your thoughts about other effects. :)

i realy liked armada 2 damage system , to see real damage on the ship and air venting in space when your life suport is dead  ^-^

I loved that. It made it very easy to keep track of critical subsystem damage.

Unfortunately, the way .SOD files work, it's only possible to ADD effects when systems are out (such as the venting air/plasma when life support/engines are out. It's not possible to remove things (such as glows). :(

If they removed those sprite glows from the nacelles, then it would be easy to have it so engine damage comes in the form of the blue section of the nacelle and is placed over the existing as a black version that block the light.

just copy stock armada 2 damage system and it will be perfect

Thats exactly what I thought. :lol: place some black light emitters(if thats possible) over the existing glows and link them to engine damage.

but they would not blink on and off. :( 

I believe the devs are working on a new damage system,( possible from legacy) that will probably be in after the faction redo's.

if its from legacy than if you dont send your damaged ship to repair station it can repair but visual damage is still there. COOL :thumbsup:

Doesn't work like that, unfortunately. The black one would also cover the ship model itself.

It's supposed to go over the model, how else would the lightmap be silenced?
