Devastating attack not Devastating enough

Devastating attack from the borg, now consumes pretty much the same special energy as it did, but does damage only to shields and very minimal at that compared to its name.

I was wondering if the special energy cost of devastating attack could be reduced to as to allow more shots.

could the user also be allowed to set the power allocation for this weapon using the gui (right clicking on the icon). That way the player can decide to set the devastating attack at full power and blast 1 target, or set it to 50% power and target multiple targets (depending on hull class - spheres and cubes should be able to hit multiple targets, not diamonds and assims etc)

Given the new numbers dynamic of the borg, a more efficient supply usage of devastating attack would be more helpful.

I laughed really hard when I read your title.  Kudos! :thumbsup:

The thought just hit me.  Remember in "Q Who?" when the Enterpise first encountered the Borg?  Their tractor beam drained the Enterprise's sheilds.  What if the same thing happened with Devestating attack?  It would be like a holding beam, but drains the sheilds of a ship quickly.  I'd rather not have it hold the vessel in place, because I think that would be a bit much and would make the special cost more.  Or maybe make devastating attack do more shield damage, but over time?  Whatever it is, I think I would like to see the special do more, even if it costs more special energy.

I am eagerly waiting for someone to make a thread entitled Precise Volley is lacking in Precision! :D

I like that idea mal. about the tractor. It's perfect  :thumbsup: Would love to see that included instead of the flying volleyball we currently have.
I wouldnt mind seeing it hold the ship in place - but the factor of holding and amount of drain should depend on the borg ship class. A sphere or assim would not hold target in place, and drain less shield from it. A diamond or cube would hold target in place and drain more shield. (direct factor of offense value as regards shield draining ability)

I actually love the devastating attack. If you have a cube, DA + high energy slicer will kill a v-13s shields making it weak for torpedoes. However i do really like that tractorbeam idea!

will we have a post to every special ability now? i wonder what you will do to plasma coil "plasma coil not very plasma coiling"  :rolleyes:

weapons that disable shields have been replaced by other effects. Area weapons in particular - but many others too - have been altered in their costs or effects.

i do like the idea of the tractor. The size of the ship makes the drain faster love it :thumbsup:

But the shield draining torpedo is still canon, it happened in that very episode didn't it? Or was it BoBW?

The devastating attack tractor idea that Mal mentioned would be nice to see :).

It should be noted that the advantage of holding a vessel in place would compensate for the diminished shield draining ability of the current devastating attack, which is now an extra large borg cube torp as the damage is essentially the same.

I understand the reason for nerfing it, and I agree with it
. However, IMO a borg special weapon should be special compared to what you guys have already done with the standard weapons.
The Devastting attack at this time pales compared to the other borg weapons like the standard torp and the slicer, nanites etc, and we were hoping to spruce it up a bit to make it just as interesting as the other Borg abilities.
- It's not our fault you guys dis such a good job with the other borg weapons  :D

btw - For the plasma coil, I would phrase it as "Plasma coil-insufficient plasma to complete a coil" :D
