Maybe I'm the only one who sees this, but I feel like the Defiant model is not quite proportioned right. It feels like it's too tall and not broad enough; it feels squished laterally. It's especially noticable, I think, when you look at the front deflector section. So if its possible, devs, I'd like to see a better Defiant model at some point, thanks.

In comparison to other ships, its perfect. I don't see a problem at all

Hm, It seems squished from side to side to me
First is a front shot of the FO Defiant.
Second is the best frontal shot I could find from the show.
I tried to match the angles.
See how the nose of the model isn't quite as wide as the original but is a bit taller. The whole ship really is a bit taller than the original.

I see what you mean, but it's a very small difference. I doubt they'd edit the model just for that

Well, it might go on the todo. I'm sure they'll always look for ways to update their models as the years go by.

It's a small thing but it makes the model look incredibly dorky in my mind.

I did the model of the Defiant, it was actually the first model I did for Fleet Ops. It seems all so long ago. The model could use an upgrade, but for now it is pretty good in comparison to everything else. To address your specific comments, it comes back to the fact that while DS9 was being aired the production staff switched from physical models to CGI ones. They were still learning how to use the CGI and didn't really get the CGI model correct, that is why the nose of the defiant looks weird in some episodes compared to others. I try to get a good balance between them and stick as close to the blue prints as possible. You can check out ex-astris-scientia for an article comparing the CGI and physical Defiants.

I'd say, overlook the poor CGI model, which was obviously the modelers still getting their feet under them and go with the original design of the physical model. I do hope at some point in the future the FO model gets a revision.

I remember reading something about the CGI and physical Defiants way back... not sure why this detail is so important though, as long as you are comfortable with the design looks (considering that it looks different from screen to screen anyway...)

I really like the Defiant model ...
I just want the pulses to be fired in bursts like in the show

Indeed, it's one of the fancier Federation ships

Hmmm..... may I request some better scaling?

Keep in mind Gamer that the two images you posted were actually from different distances.
When you're talking about something appearing "stretched", you want to make sure the distances are the same as the dimensions will appear different the closer something gets. That maqui firing shot is so close that the front part will appear stretched out forward.

Doesn't the real Defiant has slightly more curved Nacelles (seen from the front)?

Well, I listen to Zeich. Of course, when you create the Miranda-II, you pretty much have my unfailing loyalty.
Here's the ex astris scientia link on the defiant. It's a mess.
