When we decommision a station it seems unfair (especially during an attack) that the player gets the resources gained instantly. I was thinking that when a station gets decommisioned there could be some sort of cargo ship convoy that is created that the player has to take back somewhere to be processed, like a Starbase or mining station. Or perhaps the ships themselves could go to a yard to be decommisioned, where the resources would be added to your stockpile.

It would make decomissioning things more of an important decision, as you would have to ensure defence of the convoy returning to base.

but you have to admit, you can just destroy the station whle it decommisions.
but yeah, its a bit unfair, so maybe the system value of the building could be lowered to zero while decommisioning, so that it gets easier to destroy..

It is defenseless and scrapping a station will just mean the attacker has less to deal with, that should be sufficient.

I like the way it is done now. You have the chance to destroy the decomissioning station, but if you waited too long, or the defender decommissioned preemptively, then they get the resources back. A good reward.

i think the stations decommissioning works quite well as it is now. you don't gain the resources instantly but when the station has decommissioned itself. there is usually plenty of time to destroy the station during that time, as already mentioned.
