Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

I thought I brought this topic up a while ago, but I did a search and didnt find anything, so sorry if someone has already posted this recently. Im curious if there are any plans to add the dauntless http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/USS_Dauntless into fleetops.
Although it is not a strict product of starfleet, it was designed to imitate modern starfleet design, which I belive gives it unique look, something a little different then the normal ball and stick approach. So this suggestion serves two purposes. Firstly I like this ship and would like to see it in game as I think it would add a new dimension to the feds, and secondly I would like to lobby for this new dimension to be added upon, to have more "unique" fed ships.
I like federation design, but I always feel like too much of it is a various shape (oval, circle, triangle, etc.) in front of the two nacells it is attached too. And ships that vary different from that are scarce. Which is why I appreciate designs like Olympic class, Intrepid, Miranda, Oberth, Constellation, which differ slightly.
What would be nice is if we could get some more original designs to consider, that are clearly federation, but have their own spark, I dont know if Zeich has ever just doodled some ships for fun? For instance the Defiant is fairly different, but still easily recognizable. I think there needs to me more experimenting with 1, 3, 4 nacelled vessels, ones where the nacells are not just sticking out, but are integrated into the ship, in front of the ship, the ship built around them, and more odd shapes, even odd looking nacells in slightly different shapes and sizes.
I dont know, that just me

In general, we are trying to stick with what Star Trek canon already presented us how Starfleet vessels look. Two nacelles, an engineering section and a saucer is what most Starfleet vessels do indeed look like. I am sure we'd experiment more with designs if we had the need for a broader range of tasks for vessels. With the Defiant already in the mix i think we already have that one uncommon design in the fleet. Currently no need for us to invent something totally different.
That is at least my view of things.
Sooner or later more federation designs will be added as Warp-In, including some more uncommon ones. The Olympic is on our todo list for a long time now, i am sure one day we'll see it in Fleet Operations, too.
The Dauntless will never be in Fleet Operations as part of the Federation. Why honor that death-trap as a legitimate design? I agree that the Dauntless has some interesting aspects to it, it even shares some elements with the Prometheus. However we still consider the Dauntless as an alien race vessel. Maybe as map object, but nothing other than that.

I understand that, and I can appreciate that. Keeping starfleet design within their current structure makes sense. With that being said, I would just like to again say I love that the Olympic class is on todo, that makes me very excited, and again speak my support for the ships that do differ slightly, like the Olympic, Miranda (I love that ship ), Oberth, Constellation, even the once nacelled U.S.S. Kelvin is interesting, and of course the Defiant and Saber Mk2 that Zeich designed. I guess what Im getting at is ensuring each ship has that unique flair that ensures the Excelsior, Galaxy, Sovereign, Canaveral, Nova, Descent and Ambassador, are really unique, and not just larger versions of the original Constitution class, and for the most part they are unique. However I still appreciate the oddball Olympic.
Thanks for responding to this, I appreciate it.

i agree it would be good to be in fleet ops. a mixed tech ship makes sense to me since its not fed design but based on it

You could use some of my designs. I'm designing newer ships that stay away from the saucer and necelle design, and I can take some requests.
