D'Deridex Refits?

Perhaps maxing them out at one research option instead. The player could choose between a support, combat, and balanced refit for the warbird. Much like the Rheinns options...

I like the notion of a  Assault  Dedrix along with a  offensive  and defensive refits. The  Apex refit  would  give  the Refit  additional armor / sheilds and  two  additional torpedo tubes  at the cost of speed and manuverability. The Apex is the tip of the  spear that a Romulan  fleet uses to  "soften" up  a  fleet yard or Station. you  could  impose a max cap of 4 to  balance out the Increase on the Offensive stats , and the  reduced speed manuverability  would be reflected in the  decrease on the  defensive stats.

Couldn't one of the Refits double as a Troop Transport? The thing's big enough to hold quite a few Marines.

To make it balanced I feel if you  had a troop  version refit  of the dedrix you should not be able to build any Tavara class ships, To balance things out . Because if one was to  have two Tavara's along with 4 of the Troop  transport modes. the ability to  HAve an Uber fleet would be greatly increased.

I doubt that would unbalance the game, considering Troop Transports and the Transporters themselves are not that good in FO. Plus, the Tavara gets more useless after each use of it's Special because of crew drop imparing it.

Yeah but it can re-crew like a starbase.... hardly an impairment if you ask me.

Why does the Tavara even have a recrew? That is to me personally unreasonable....

That recrew is the only threat to balance... you can keep using that 75 marine weapon and never run out of crew.

Unless as you pointed out a few times previously: just keep attacking the Tavara ;)

Plus, it runs out of special energy relatively quickly and the darn special weapon costs an arm and a leg. You rarely ever see it in MP for that reason. Maybe it isn't balanced for IA, but online, it certainly is.
