An AI script wouldn't be too hard to do I don't think. I wouldn't recommend an in game option. Rather, we should be able to set a script (or 1 for each faction and avatar preferably) in the options menu. If any of you remember Baldur's Gate I and II, you could set a custom script on what to do and when and order of operations. To have it in game would take waaay too much time out of the game. That being said, I don't think its a big necessity. Part of the game-play of a real-time strategy is STRATEGY....more automation takes away from that IMO. However, I do think the special weapon autonomy needs some rework. I can't tell you how many times I've seem Assims waste the Nanite Factory Module instead of the Assimilation Beam.
Perhaps the devs can impliment a special priority order; i.e. use boarding party instead of holding beam or slicer or something.
