Colored outlines of ships behind explosions

Just an idea.


Problem: When there are lots of explosions, it's really hard to see which ships are yours vs theirs, etc. The little colored faction icon does not work and the mini-map doesn't show things well enough either.

Proposal (just to throw another one out there): When a ship is behind an explosion, a team color-colored ship outline becomes visible through the explosion (this would hopefully allow players to see their ships during big battles)

Hmmm... could it be done as a mod?  Maybe someone could whip up a mod that has the explosion's color match everyone's color?  I know this is a feature request, but I like the idea and I'm thinking it would be faster for someone to make a mod that doesn't break online games.  It sounds similar to the team colors mod that Tyler made.
