Collective Pods...
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Well, I was thinking of featuring something similar in one of my mods. But I'm not sure if I can ever pull it off. But it would be really cool if you feature it in FO. I was thinking that since the Borg would often times have a better build system in general for ships, they'd also would fo the stations. This is what I was thinking...
The starting station would be a 'Central Matrix'. The 'Central Matrix' Would build these Pods. It would build one 'Defensive Structure Pod', One 'Collection Structure Pod', and one 'Basic Structure Pod'. These Pod all have completely separate sets of structures. Some structures require certain things others don't.
Before going into the details of the Build tree, I want to explain how they build. First you move the pods around until the selected location. You'll go into a build selection where there will be these 'foundations' to build. The tricky part is getting to have them in regulated orientation, and to show the foot print of the possible final products (which have to be consistant). The Pod will build the foundation similar to how the connections build ships. When the foundation is finished then you will have a choice between which 'complete' stations you can build off of that. and then it occurs again. But it is necessary that the foundation is removed, the finish product is generated, but the footprint remains.
Sorry if it is already seeming too difficult.
Okay, now the build tree! Much simpler than how the building happens. Let us start with the Basic Structure pod. The "Basic Pod" builds general structures, this would include the Central Matrix, Connections, Trans Matrix, and Conduction Matrix, and any other future general purpose station. The "Collection Pod" builds the Resource Node, Incubation Center for supplies, and other stations by means of resource aquiring. The Defensive Pod builds the main Starbase/Nexus/Matrix (some people refer it differently), Turrets, Sensor relays, and other structures of defensive purpose.
Okay, now, along with having a wider tree, we can fit in some refits of stations, these would be built off of the same foundations as their original versions. Pretty much all defensive stations would have a tactical refited version that has armor equipped making it stronger, as a down side weapon rates would be slower to balance out. Basic structures would vary, research facilties would not have refits, but say the connections station would be modified to where you'd build a 5-in-1 thing where it builds connections as if pods which would make the ships as usual. This would greatly increase production, but high costs and long build time of the main structure would balance this. For the resource facilities there would be an efficiency refit maximizing its income collection effeciency yet their would be high supply costs. Also there would be a defensive strength reduction to also help balance it.
I think this can really make the Borg more Borgy because they often think of trying to have a better build system. What do you guys think of this? I'm sorry if this seems to possibly throw things way off balance, I'm just trying to better the gameplay as well as keeping a balance.
Personally I think this can be a real break through.

I don't want to be rude or anything but several people, including me, have had similar ideas. While yours has appeal in that it gets around the "destroy the central station you destroy the whole base" problem, it seems a bit "clunky" to me at least. Just my two cents...

cool idea, but i have two questions:
1.wouldn't be all buildings be extremly rugged to a place?
2.could it be, that the same system was already planned for noxter?

Any central station idea would become quite difficult to use with the current maps... simply put, there isn't enough space on many of the maps
Iconians will get a central station though, so I'm guessing the Devs will solve that issue by making it reaaaally small.

So basically my idea is majorly flawed...
I was tinking of the Central station possible being a heavily armored and/or armed station, persay maybe a Unicomplex?

but you know that the unimatrix is a great bunch of shíps floating through space, right?
