i was thinking the klingons and romulan both have cloking devises so if we make the romulans have a new cloking device that lets tham be harder to detect whood make tham uneek.
some thing that the klingons wont have.

all so you can make more upgrades to scawts to detect leavl2 clokes.

I think detecting cloaked ships should be tougher altogether, like making detectcloak on starships a toggleweapon that drains special weapon energy and thus can only be kept active for a limited period of time.
The cloak detection in SFC3 was cool, it emitted pulses of detection signals at regular intervals which made cloaked enemy ships visible for a short while.
other than that, think klingon and romulan cloaks should remain the same.

Reminds me of the ECM and ECCM in the first 2 SFC games. That was good too. Don't think any of its possible ingame though.

I just don't like it I agree that cloaks should be harder to find, and that the romulans are probably better at it then the Klingons. But, we run into one eventual problem. With the exception of the completely new and Reman Designed warbird, Every warbird build by the romulan fleet has become rather detectable. It seems even more so after the Dominion war. This is although a lofty idea i am pretty sure that the tacyon detection grid is designed around the principal that all ships with a cloak can be detected. I will have to check again but cloak is something I think was in the source code :shifty: But you will have to check with optec on this one. I do know that the klingons and the Romulans and Cardi's use different cloaks in Armada 2 but I have always been under the impression that is for sound purposes only

Stop dredging up old topics It is now begging to get on my nerves...
and sorry for keeping this topic new didn't realize til end of post it was old

it's a good idea, that the romulas would have a special ability, all ships would have a special weapon, a cloack that could not be detected, but would last about 30sec or so.....

I dont like, then he could just pass your defences and attack you from behing or even worst destroy your main base :omg:

True. Hypercube, It sounds a lot like the phase cloak form a2 though.

Agreed about the phase cloak. If it could be a researchable weapon that only lasts say 30 sec with a very long recharge for all or most Romulan ships instead of just the one generix (I forget which one) that would be very nice.

How about the kind of cloak that the Reman warbird Scimitar had in the movie Nemesis? Surely the romulans got a glance at the Thelaron technology behind that and upgraded theirs. Or maybe that could be a good campaign story for Romulans: The quest for Thelaron cloaks or something..... I would like to see a few Reman warbirds again, besides the one from Nemesis.

I'm under the impression that the Reman rebels were quickly eliminated during the peace-accords with Captain Riker. I'm also pretty sure that the Scimitar was one-of-a-kind, and while there may be a few more building on Remus those yards are now firmly under the control of the Romulan Star Empire.
