possibly have shuttles make supply routes between starbases/shipyards/miming platforms with a colonized planet?

Good idea, but you know, sounds impossible to me.

i think we need to have several races with starting bases. races you can only aquire when you get a certain amount of resources ships territory etc. the more resources the better the treaty is to you. this would add a diplomatic angle to fleet ops

also the idea of a helth meter or moral meter is a good one. this would judge the moral of your fleet. the happier and healthier the better your ships would fight. if you are winnig your moral rises but health declines. if you are loosing your helth and moral goes down. to keep health up you would be able to build hospitals. also hospitals could keep crew alive longer under battle stress.

the idea of species that don't expand but defend their area is good. it could be improved if they would let the highest bidder pass through. also you could buy the use of thier ships.




the final problem is that RTS games are between huge armies of many ships of the same kind. fleetops has done a good job on the varying of ships but more could be done. also fleetops still employes large armies. something should be done about this.

How bout a hospital ship, the Olympic class is the official one I think. When you have one in your fleet, it can beam out people from ships that lost life support, just an idea.

Sounds like a logical function for a hospital ship beaming ppl to a vessel without life support :wacko: :lol: ;)

I personnaly have always liked the whole idea of a civilian aspect to Armada, it seems to make more sence that military actions would not be the only thing that would occur in a system, I mean if the Federation, especcially the federation just went to settle an area, they wouldn't go with 1000+ ships expecting to set up another DM zone like with cardassia, they would probably start off with a civilian outpost, and then develop the area from that, mabey this civilian idea could open up a world for more than simply annihalte your enemy.

nevermind. sorry but it would be cool I think hat as long as you don't take away the opiton in the engine you could probably ad more in the add on engine that Fleetops uses

I love the idea of an interesting eco-system, even outside of the space battles.
I would love to see more shuttle traffic between stations. I would also like to see more random events, such as space storms, random (and infrequent) small explosions in ships and stations,

But for now, I believe the mining ships are the only automated civilian ships in the A2 engine. (Perhaps you could include the repair ship as well).

I think it is a wasted visual/intellectual opportunity to have both mining ships doing the same thing. I would still consider having one doing research while another doing mining. Scanning and learning about local space conditions becomes an ingredent in building ships and facilities (again, think Rise of Nations).

Actually, the trading ships might be something else to exploit - shuttling materials and admirals between posts might give some of that.

hmm I like these ideas, so 2 questions

1) can you have stuff happen randomly with the armada engine like EM storms an stuff

2) can we do somthing really cool with trading stations and starbases, eg. shuttleing admirals and doing research prodjects in some way

one thing i thought of (just now infact) is giving races some sort of technology assimilating ship and then give stuff like asteroids and nebulas technology to assimilate. So you got these ships called research ships with a fancy special weapon that when you use it on an asteroid you have so fancy graphics that make it look like its doing somesort of intensive scanning an then after say scanning a certain asteroid or summat you get some sort of cool weapon or better shields or summat like that, you may say that why does scanning a nebula give you better shields, Well i dont know but im sure someone could think of summat very clever to explain it. Right another idea just hit me (im on a roll today) you could also maybe have a few probes on theese research ships that aint hard to do, an they decrease the time it takes to scan summat. ok, so summary is having ships with the technology assimilator beam and having things floating around in space (nebulas or stuff) that you can scan with it. whew glad i dont have theese kinda mental outbreaks often or my hands would be really really tired :P

I like the idea of a hospital ship in a fleet support role, it'd have to have pretty massive shields and a huge capacity, maybe 1000 or so, with starting crew of 100 or something. but I don't know how you could program its crew to increase as crew was lost on ships with disabled life support. Very cool if the FO team could make it work though.
