I wonder if it would be possible to click to tell a station, if desired, where to focus its scanners. Broad, or focused up, down, left, or right.

Nice... Nice... that would be very cool. I beleive it is possible.

It would mean adding another menu of buttons for all stations with sensors good enough to be worth worrying about, and another layer of complexity. I'm thinking you're thinking mainly about spy sattellites and turrets?

I like to pretend that turrets don't exist! I was thinking about the various space stations. It seems very Star Trek like to concentrate scanners in a certain direction. Again, there could be a cost to changing (in either time or resources) to prevent a constant strobing.

Then again, right now there are only a few benefits to knowing about an attack before it reaches you, hardly enough to worry about.

Yeah no kidding. This is why we need some extra-long range artillery (with a rather far MINIMUM range) on starbases, to give incentive to keep up perimeter patrols.

Yup. Also, as I have suggested before, a shift for a space station between productive and defensive stances that is done better when there is early warning.

I liked that idea. It should take special enegy to have the sencers directed a certain way instead of normal.
