Capture differences

Is it possible that captured ships could have their name and appearance changed by the race that takes over them? Similar to what the Borg would do?

It isn't canon, but there was a Loknar class vessel, the USS Morgan City (NCC-2704), that was captured by the Klingons. It was repainted in their colors and renamed IKSV Staav'eMara (Slave of Justice). I think they still have it, too.

As I said it isn't canon, just a suggestion. Not like much in FO is canon, anyway.

what is to happen if it is recaptured by the race that lost it?
Does it then get a new name yet again, or get renamed back to what it was?

I don't know, I haven't heard of one being retaken. Except the Defiant, and that was in Dominion control long enough to be changed.

I mean taken in the standard sense; attack the ship and subdue/kill the crew rather than control through hostages and similar means.
