I know the campaign is still a long way off, but I just thought I would put an idea out I just had. Anyone familiar with Dawn of War 2 will understand what I mean. Also, I don't think this would ever be the official campaign, but someone might like the idea and make their own version.
Basically, you start the first mission with say 4 or 5 ships, mostly different classes (maybe you can choose what they are, haven't thought about it yet), and you dont have any stations. You then use only this handful of ships to complete the mission, and they don't rank up very quickly, or they have even more ranks than normal, so you can't get anywhere near max rank in 1 or 2 missions. Then you keep doing missions to rank up your ships.
Perhaps you could also do secondary objectives to get more xp or more ships, rather than building them in the traditional sense.

Sounds like a cool idea - though might also be good as a set of interrelated mini-missions (say you have sent a particular task force to complete some things in a far off region) :0

Hmm. Sounds tough, but cool. If the ships can support each other it would be an interesting for tactics. You could get like one steamrunner, two sovergins, an akira, and two defiants and have to destroy a bunch of stations or something like that.

I also like this idea, it involves strategy and the use of different ships abilities to complete the mission. When a campaign has been released I hope a few missions are like this as I find them more enjoyable then simple building and conquering.

I just wish it could be set up like DoW 1 (dark crusade and soulstorm) or Rise of Legends. Territory map, pick your battles based upon what you can reach, and fight your way to victory. Each territory a seperate map and battle.

It's a great idea. I wouldn't want it to apply for the whole campaign, but it would be awesome for a few missions.

There were a few missions like that in the A1 and A2 campaigns, if I recall. They were tons of fun and I'm sure we could think of something like that as well. Even do it blizzard style where you can get a small number of resources and "find" a derelict station, which allows you to build an extra ship or two before moving on.

I remember those types of missions and honestly they're fun when you'Re forced to think. Eg. you come to a pair of deployed dodecs and have to use your artillery to kill them from a distance, but what's even more fun imo is a single lone hero ship missions vs mobs

One of the best missions imo from armada 1, hope something similar is implemented.

that mission is really easy. there are derelicts everywhere, how many ships died around here? lol
just capture all the ships. and dont let the 6 bop bum rush kill your yard. u can easily get a solid fleet and repair them all. even recrew them

also that radiation station dies after a couple hits anyway.
and the avenger comes with a ridiculous amount of energy to drop those bop munching mines.

How is this...?
Seriously install A1 now and do it, do it, do it. You must play it all the way through. Its only four missions(they never finished the fifth) per each of the five campaigns.
