Buy, Sell, or Trade for Resources

One feature I believe would be beneficial for FO is a system of trade for buying, selling, or trading resources (trades post and cargo ship). In some fast paced games, you'll lose your mining stations to enemy forces and not have enough resources on hand to construct more mining stations. The only way to get more resources is to scrap other vessels or structures and hope you get enough in return to build a new station. If we have to deal with 4E level micromanagement, I'd welcome the ability to trade along with it.

Yeah in the stock A2 you could convert tri into di and visa versa, why not bring that back?

What would you get for regular Station to Station trading now that latinum has been removed ? A small amount of one of the 3 resources at random?

Since supplies are bought with resources you could have a reverse trade system where you can buy back resources by selling supply stock or just bring back latinum Nebulas.

for certain races yes.
Klings for example. Was playing klings the other day and had over 15k in tritanium but under 200 for dilithium. Equal mining bases and units.
It's just that their build tree takes more dilithium. had only 3 yards on nirvana 2. had 8 ining bases (4 dils and 4 trits)
was able to create a few neghs, sosqs and vorchas from the mixed yard.

I think the trade system would balance out that deficiency.

Setting up a Trading station in a distant base and sending a ship to trade between it and my main base, for some reason, makes me feel like they are connected instead of being an isolated base out in the middle of nowhere.

Would be rather interesting, if you can't convert, but send your trading ships to a random generated station (weapon fire is impossible arround it) anywhere on the map and this brings you some vlaue. Maybe credtis? Or some challenge within it? So every player will try to use the station for trading, but nobody wants the others to do so...

I prefer the standard version, but the one in the middle could be an NPC you can trade with.

The Borg would need a station that could get the resources off the ship.
