Buildable Heroes?!?

Will "real" heroes ever be added in?

The developers do not want to have "real" heroes in the game, therefore they implemented the Veteran System as a similar hero system.

Agreed. I like the current 'veteran' implementation as opposed to straight hero ships because it's a reward for keeping a certain ship alive so it involves skill and luck as opposed to just being granted a God ship. And you aren't punished when a vet gets destroyed so much as when a hero gets destroyed because a Hero ship would be completely irreplaceable.  :ermm:

In RTS like Haegemonia, you could randomly hire heroes for different purposes.
Spy heros raise abilities of spy ships for example.
You could assign the heros to your colonies, ships and stations.
Of course a squad leader makes no sense on planets and politicians make no sense on warships, but that system was great. Whenever such a hero-assigned unit got destroyed, the hero was sent back to HQ with an amount of time to rehabilitate from the injuries taken during a simulated evac-action.

That's the only system apart from pure veteran ships I would accept.

Well, heed Baron's words, and in a far flung version, you might be surprised by what you'll see :) . However, there will never be "traditional heroes" in FO (like having Worf, Picard - that sort of thing )

your hero ship is the scout ship you get when you first start the MP !  :lol:

Hey, what about a map-object, a long range communication centre. If you manage to hold it for 5 mins you are able to call a heroe of your race for help. To balance it this should use up a significant amount of spplies and  can be done once in a game only. Therefore the heroe is very durable (more def, faster, longer range), but to balance it, not much stronger at offense than a normal one.

that would be very cool, and as far as I know, it sounds possible :woot:

I always like heroes, but like I(and several others) said, the devs have no desire to put heroes in the game.

yeah, you just make a warpin on a station that fires automatically but takes 5 minutes to fire(or arrive).  If the player no longer holds the station, it won't give the ship to them.

Sure sounds possible ^-^

Especially as this would not necessarily add heroes to the game. Only heroes as summonable mapobject :D

What would be really cool is if ships had many more levels and you could recall the high level ships you had created in other matches. Of course there is no way for this to happen as of right now

what do you mean manual entry? i suppose if you wanted it to it to be a specific name you chose...

I meant like Ent - E warped in as a vet sovereign, and had the special hero name ^-^
