briging some chaos into the techtree
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

after reading all the post about spamming and the possibility to kill the enemy with only one shiptype, an Idea came up inside me:
what if we reconfigure the techtrees a bit?
right now it is mostly: greater yard -> greater ships -> better ships.
but in fleetops there are also newer and older ships, so why dont we arrange th ships around its age a bit more? as example: the klingon k'vort is pretty new(correct me if im wrong^^), so maybe it could be moved to the second yard, while a older but bigger ships gets moved to the first yard.
so the fleets wouldn't mainly consist of one shiptype(like destroyers in earlygame and battleships in lategame)
do you guys think it would make the game better or only more complicated?

Older ships in yard 1, newer ships in Yard 2. Is that what you mean?
The K'Vort isn't that new, they used them in TNG.

i didnt meant it so extreme, just that some of the older battleships go down on the tree (with nerfing, of course) and some of the new destroyers and cuisers get pushed up(again with some testing and stuff)

I think K'Vort is the shiptype used in Star Trek Tactical Assult. If correct, the klingons used them before Wrath of Kahn.
I don't realy know about the majority of players, but I win and lose a fair amount of times not spamming one-three ship types, but using almost all-all of them. As many times as I spam one type. Win, that is. Well actualy it is a ratio, because I use all the shiptypes more than spam a few.
That just highlights how inexperienced I am in the matter of knowing weather spam realy is a big issue.
I don't think that all of it is a good idea. If we want to be chronilogical here, woulden't the D'Deridex come first for Romulans? I don't know either. Also there is the thing called Refits. (Not the Romulan gamplay style) Ships get made better, even during their service runs (Enterprise, Enterprise-D, Enterprise-E). That just highlights a storyline way that the ships are placed "corectly", which I think they are.
Realy, I (hope) think the next patch is coming soon, and I probably will wait for it before making an actualy helpful sugestion

again, i didnt meant to order them all chronologically, i thought more about it this way:
a ship that is used regulary in the fleet should be build able in more early, because i think the staryards could be already refitted for building this shiptype, whether t is big or not.
in contrast to that i dont think a newly introduced ship of the fleet clould be build in the first shipyard because it doesnt posses the advanced technics for building the ship.

So...um...Klingon Yard 1 = B'rel, K'vort, Vor'cha, Negh'var, and the mining ship (because it's really the old favorite...K'ting'a!)?
With everything else in later yards? That somehow fills me with the appropriate terror at the idea of angry Klingons.

sorry, couldnt understand your last sentence^^
it was just an idea to create things like a early-game Battleship, a "late-game destroyer" and so on, so the fleets would be more diverse the whole time, not only in lategame.

Hehe, look at Risner: she has a late game "destroyer" (the Phalanx... even though it is a battleship, is a superior destroyer of destroyers, than that of battleships :p ) ... how did that work out for her?

Well, the TNG/DS9 era klingon 'staple' ships are those ones. In the current game, they're still the staple ships. In fact, it's entirely possible to win using only those ships. Which is 1 light destroyer, 1 heavy destroyer, 1 light cruiser, 1 heavy cruiser, and 1 battleship.
I suppose it could be called the price that everyone *else* pays for the Klingons never throwing anything away.

It would certainly be interesting to see, but it brings up a whole host of new problems with canon... So it's likely a better idea just to leave it as it is.
Although perhaps a little add-on pack including some buildable older designs would be awesome.
Have them all built at a ship yard - cheap & nerfed to make them noticably weaker than the current generation but worth using to bolster a fleet. Or this could be a map object? Anywhichway, someone would have to make it first...

Great idea for map unit, except for older ships still in use. Those ones are better buildable (or as a Warp-In).

K'tinga... Yummm.
I capture Klingon miners just to turn them into K'tingas. They may not have a real fighting chance, but I love having them buzzing around my base.

I got disappointed I could not build them, but when I found out about the "drop containers"... Yay!

Bah, I build them anyway... and so does the AI.
