Borg Turret Idea

What if the borg turret was cheap like the feds platform, but could have modules installed like any borg ship. Details:
  • The turret could initally accept 2 modules and then you could research for more
  • Available modules:
       
  • Beam module
       
  • Torpedo module
       
  • Pulse Module (special module only for the turret)
       
  • Armor Module
What do you think?

well for one im a bit curious armor module? ??? that sounds intersting

however i know in my efforts to get a refit system for feds, ive been told "feds dont refit" total bull
and that im trying to make all races the same, so dont be surprised if you get the same

i think the idea is cool, however i question if borg really would use turrets, the way you set it up is very nice and i could see it fitting very well with the system in place

The armor module is on the cube, if you install 2 you get a tactical cube :D. Yeah i noticed that... If people want to whine about me trying to make them the same, i'll just point them in the direction of optec/doca cola because it was not i who thought up the module system, it was them. Also, you could maybe have a "thruster module" which allows the turret to move (slowly of course). Along the same lines, you could have the ability to build miners from nodes, and they could have modules too. Here's what i envision:
* Capacity module (boosts the resource storage capacity)
* Mining module (boosts the mining speed)
* Hull module (boosts health)
This could also go two ways: you could have it be weak without any modules and allow 3 of them max, or have it mostly like a regular miner and only one slot for customization.

what? mining module? on a turret? thruster module? yeah, ima have to oppose that, thats making borg more powerful, and as for what other people would say i was talking aboutgiving borg turrets the ability to upgrade like the feds

The mining module would be for a customizable miner, and the thruster module would make it (the turret) move verry slowly... Besides, it would take slots away from adding weapons to the turret!

we already thought about taking the module system beyond the normal military vessels, but i think keeping it easy for civil and defense structures is a better way. however i will take a look at it for the future. The Borg Resource Assimilators, by the way, will get an upgrade from a collective feature

Speaking about civil units, would the Borg even have them? They don't have civilians.

That would be really nice.  Personally the artillery range on Feds is a little OP....or maybe I'm just a little jealous! :-p  But it would be nice if the turrets and/or other vessels had module upgrades like the ships.

THe borg's civilians are more like "mining specialists" or something. Sounds interesting; are collective features those things that give free abilities to all borg combat vessels?
