sup guys
ok so i was thinking that the borg really do desearve shields. now i know the reason why the borg currently dont have shields, because else the borg will be to strong. however i think that the borg having shields could be balanced.
1) all borg ships that can have a module installed should be able to install a shield module. this would grant that ship shields.
2) the amount of shields points and effectiveness of shields (ie regen rate of shields) should be governed by the number of shield modules installed.
2.1) With 1 shield module installed that ship gets shields with the number of shield points=hullpoints/2.
2.2) With 2 shield modules the number of shield points = hullpoints*2/3.
2.3) With 3 shield modules the number of shield points = hullpoints.
3) the number of allowed shield modules is capped at 3 modules.
i think this way it could be balanced.
what you guys think.

im sure i remember seeing a episode or two where the borg had shields.
I think in the voyager episode "dark front part1" where voyager was in combat with a borg probe, and they managed to get the shields down so as to beam a photon torp in their ship which destoyed the borg probe, later tom paris congratulated harry kim on his idea for beaming a torp over, and how tuvok managed to get the shields down (im sure im correct here).

The drones had shields, but I don't remember seeing any shielded vessels.

i think the borg only have sheilds inside their ships around important things not on the outside of the ship but i could be mistaken

yes borg have shields around critical spots, i believe their hull is made up of something hard so they could show off saying "we don't need shields ahhaha!" yea... anyways why don't they borg use shields??? does all that power go into some unknown technology we do not know??

I can also remember hearing about shields on Borg vessels in a very few episodes. Must check that again...
In DS9 barely any vessel had "on-screen" shields. Did the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians and Dominion remove those from their fleets to save resources for other stuff?
Still, was alot of fun watching how almost any ship was destroyed with 1-2 shots.
And anyway, how is having no shields at all an advantage for the Borg? Even their Drones have 'em.
Also Memory-Alpha states that a Borg Cube has, in fact, deflector shields. We just need a valid source now (from any series or movie).
Edit: Sombody check Voyager Episode 16 of Season 5, "Dark Frontier Part 2". There is a scene where the Borg ship is attacked by some species. The Queen tells Seven to adjust shields (or something like that) in order to protect the ship.
If that is correct...
Conclusion:
1. The on-screen argument doesn't seem to be valid, as DS9 and some TNG episodes would be absurd.
2. The Queen states that her/their ship has shields ---> Canon argument.
3. Having no shields appears to be pretty idiotic to me. But just my 2 cents here.
4. Memory Alpha also states that the Cube has shields. A valid source is still needed though.
---> Post-TNG Borg have shields or at least some ships with shields.

Fleet Ops Borg don't have relevant shield technology (all ships have deflector shield and structural integrity, otherwise they would be blown to pieces by mere micro-asteroids)

I didn't complain about that.

i prefer them without shields, but strong hulls, ie as it is now

Acutally i wouldnt mind seeing shields as a module for one of the early game ships like the scube or maybe the dode.

There are numerous references to Borg Shields in the show. The reason we don't see them often is the same reason they would be hard to properly implement in Fleet Ops.
At first (Q Who?) the Borg did not have data on starfleet weapons, so the shots Enterprise-D pumped into it were being analyzed. The Borg shields, just like the drone shields, don't kick up on unknown weapons fire.
Best of Both Worlds, we got a bit of Borg Shields, but that was quickly done away with by the 'rotate phaser frequency' thing that was later made standard on all starfleet tactical computers.
It's the 'they aren't turned on until they adapt' thing that would be very, very hard to implement.

I still want borg ships to have shields... and the canon argument that there shouldnt be any isnt valid in my opinion

They use a hull polarisation instead of shields. Together will the fast regen-rate, this is more efficient than shields, because beam weapons are inefficient and only torps may be a good weapon, but only, if you fight against something without torp-compensation.
So, they have a flawless defense with a high-grade grav-torp attack-weapon.
