Borg idea - Analyze & Adapt, and counter-Borg tech idea

I posted this to someone else's thread, but thought I'd make it to its own thread.  While it makes canonical sense for the Borg to not have ranks like the other races, the notion that Borg ships remain unchanged from their initial construction, I think, defeats the "analyze and adapt" strength the Borg are famous for ... they can upgrade their ships without shipyards by analyzing combat with non-Borg and adapting.  I think this should work on the basis of hits absorbed by the Borg, as opposed to damage they already dish out ... maybe for every weapon hit a Borg ship incurs, the Borg ship has a chance (maybe 1 in 100) of copying the weapon it was struck with and adding it to its arsenal.

I've also thought that maybe among non-Borg "mixed-tech" ships, there should be some specific anti-Borg tech representing intense collaborative efforts, maybe "counter-nanites" that can infect a Borg vessel with nanites that can actually attack Borg nanites, rendering a Borg ship incapable of regeneration for a period of time (it could even be a pseudo-permanent effect like the Klingon engine slowing weapon that would require a Refresh cycle to clear).
