    Like the alliteration?  ^-^

Ok, last night I played a rather epic game versus the AI to say the least:

T1: Me (FED), ROM, KL, KL (ALL HARD)
T2: DOM, DOM, DOM (ALL HARD)
    T3: BORG (HARD)

I thought to myself at the start of this, well I've be unfair to the Borg, they're surrounded by Dominion and aren't going to survive the middle game. BOY WAS I WRONG

Eventually the game proceeds to the late game, and I've hardly even noticed the Borg, assuming that they've gone for the Dominion instead.

So, the late game commences with Sovereigns, Warbirds and Luspet's in production.

The game, was very good up until the point when 7 Cubes appeared on my mini map, surrounded by around 5 Spheres, and 4 Assimilators.

Despite the combined armadas of both Allied and Dominion fleets, the Borg became inpenatrable, the Spheres and Assimilators were destroyed no problem, but the Cubes and there regeneration capability's proved too much.

    So here is my proposal:

The Borg Cube is capped to a maximum of 3/4. No matter the type (Normal/Tactical). Much like the Tavara and Dreadnought.

The introduction of specific passive abilities. For example, the Defiant is bred to combat the Borg, let's use that. Maybe +10 damage versus Borg ships when using the Defiant? (this is just ideas people!)

Anyway, I'm sick of the Borg sitting in the shadows, with no way to counteract them!  :whistling:

I usually play against AI becouse I don't have internet on my home, but I think that the borg are great just the way they are! the AI cheats badly, but in multiplayer the Human player can't cheat! so that make balance in the game

Maybe in the future the mod staff will change some things... but for now my only advice is to attack the Borg first

Aye, I've had a similar experience. They just pop out of nowhere and all over a sudden it's a swift downhill struggle. I don't think they need their gameplay changed though as they're pretty good in human hands. What they need is a different AI package to reflect the radically different gameplay.

well your playing the game the way it wasn't really made to play.

When the borg get that big there is very little you can do to combat them and rightly so , gameplay against the borg is supposed to be you and or your allys cutting off their resources and stopping them from growing that large i mean if i had 7 cubes i wouldn't need the assims or spheres id just get a diamond or two and wipe everyone out.

When they get that big it is for all intensive purposes gameover.

Also why should a cube be capped, have you seen how much they cost? not necessary as i said if the enemy can build that many cubes without you destroying them then your not playing it right.

The AI builds Borg units as it builds other faction's - consequently, its battleships are Cubes, cruisers are Spheres, support are Diamonds and Assimilators. Combined with the huge resource decrease that the AI gets, it is a very powerful combination. In multiplayer the Borg are very nicely balanced - but the AI doesn't have much of a resource cost, so you can expect to be spammed. :) The Devs are working on improving this situation, but the game is originally balanced for online play, and not against the AI  :sweatdrop: . Armada's AI is currently much too simple to allow any difference.

Is it possible for the AI to not cheat on gaining collective connections, or do it to a lesser degree?

yep, use a normal AI, they only differ in resource bonuses and some minor differences ^-^

Well, the main issue with the borg on merciless is they spam more powerful ships at the same rate as the other factions on merciless.  I thought a temporary fix could be to change how they need collective connections in a way that would make merciless better than hard or normal, but still manageable.

Borg are fine the way they are.  People, please stop saying the AI is cheating.  It is only following a set of rules put forth to it.  The game's AI was fixed a patch or 2 ago (I get all the releases mixed up.).  So, as Optec said, there's only bonus differences between the different AI levels.

Aye.  AI is limited.  It always will be.  There's little it can do to offer forth a decent game but cheat.  You have OODLES of options regarding how much it cheats in the "Advanced Options" menu before you start your game.

  No more AI whining :D.

hahaha, your ambassadors are having their way with the borg HA! awesome man, that made me laugh....

Yeah Ambassador's are tough bastards as of 3.1!  I LOOOOOVE how fast they are (120) and how powerful their shields are.

I find them to be one of the best Warp-ins to get against Borg because of how aggressively you can play with them.  They can engage even larger Borg ships without worrying so much about being disabled right away.  They have strong torpedoes for Spheres and Assimilators and once Energy Rerouting is active they are a super-tank.

Actually, they have a speed of 130 (insane!).  I used to hope for 2 steamrunners and a Galaxy, now I hope for an ambassador instead. ^-^
