Borg assimilation

One thing I found in all versions of the game is that once you assimilate the crew of the enemy ship, even if I board it and stop transporting it's shields still remain lovered. The same is valid for assimilated stations. Is this an armada specific code ? Can't that be altered ? I feel playing the assimilation avatar is also only limited to killing/destroying ships this way.

Also since the alterations in connection costs, my only possible solution is to go with Scout Cubes, basically destroying the opponents fleet.

Later game boarding becomes an option, but considering the sheer number of ships, this option fails fast, at least for me, as it demands a very high level of micromanaging skills.

Since most players whom played vs. me know I'm not that excellent in that area, I end up assimilating all the crew on a ship, beam over just some drones, stop transporting, until the other player starts transporting crew over to the just captured ship, thereby lovereing there shields, mostly on larger ships, as they have the most crew available. So they give me almost a free kill.
On the other hand I just might be lucky enough to send that ship out of the combat zone, and hide it anywhere until I can recrew it, and it recharges it's shields, or I cam build a repair yard.

In 2vs2 things go a little better, but even here if my ally researches allied repair, I loose 3 out of 4 assimilated ships, thax to no shields.
I'm not saying that someone with a better micro skill can't assimilate better, but considering the changes that where implemented since 310, 311 I feel like the Borg are out for the kill and not assimilation.

I'd like to also report a small irritating bug, that acures at the beginning of the game on maps that have one of the moons vertically placed to the south of the main base, my Borg miners always get stuck, needing always to be sent further out, then send mining.
In an RTS any lost second brings one closer to defeat.
Granted there is not much to do in the beginning, but those whom know me, can recall most the time I hunt and assimilate there scouts whit my detector. :borg:

Thank you for reading my post

hhmm.. cant say i never experienced that, but also didnt experience it always.

i have the strong feeling that this has something to do with disabled subsystems getting damaged  because i also experience that problem when my fleet attacks just after coming out  shield disabling nebula...

There is a bug where shields that have been disabled or depleted don't come back online, even with the subsystem functioning properly. Probably a well-known one, I got it several times in stock.

A good post: I agree as well that assimilation is damn hard when you are not only fighting over the ship by putting crew on it, but also the shields lower as soon as the ship changes hands, which means that it is easy prey for most opponents. Quite frankly, assimilation become very secondary because of this. I bet a really quick solution would be to have a replaceweapon command upon either assimilation that would be either automatic or user pressed - causing the ship to perhaps lose much of the shield strength, but gain a great deal of hull strength. That could definitely alleviate the "oh look, I lost 2/3 of my health - blow me to bits now!" problem  :sweatdrop:

I've also experienced that second bug... and for that reason there are a few maps I NEVER play random/Borg on. The path to nowhere is one of them  . Would be nice if there was someway the path finding could be fixed to make this stop happening.
