Borg Assimilated Vessels

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

It would be interesting if once the borg capture an enemy vessel that they would get the option to assimilate the vessel and add one borg weapon. For instance you assimilate a sovereign then you get the option to assimilate the vessel at the cost of some resources. In doing this the ship will get an increase in stats and the vessel will be fully repaired and recrewed. Thoughts anyone???

I like it, but I'm expecting someone to shoot it down as the Borg supposedly don't keep the ships.

Dont the supposeadly turn the assimilated ships into larger ships like the cube and sphere???

I think they break it down for components and tech to build with, another thread speculated that that is more likely than just building over the ship.

what about tech and repair.

If I assimilate a fed ship such as the intrepid class then that ship should be able to be taken back to the collective unimatrix itself (no special station needed), and have it "broken down and analyzed" by the unimatrix

On assimilation (by assimilation here, I mean breaking down the ship and absorbing its tech into the collective) of the ship, it will allow ALL borg ships to adapt to that class of ship and reduce damage dealt by that class by 10-20%.

The stock Technology Assimilator broke down ships then gave their special Weapons to Cube-type ships.

nah. the special weapons of feds should stay with the feds. somehow seeing a cube with a corbomite reflector didnt cut it.

Adaptation is what the borg need to increase their resistance to attacks. It is their form of experience.
Using this we can specifically increase borg "experience" in dealing with certain classes that they have assimilated and analyzed.

there are close to 100 classes of ships in all. in a live game we would end up assimilating and analyzing one class at best.

Also, if there are multiple players with the same race, the assimilation and analysis should apply to only the player who lost that class to the borg and not to the other players who are playing the same race but have not lost a ship.

That doesn't make sence. It's like saying that if they assimilated an Akira from the 1st Fleet, they would only be protected from another Akira in the same Fleet.

Or did you mean, the other avatar?

well i am thinking he means 2 different players using the same race but it is not possible to separate the same ship unless they are using the other avatar

I meant, you are player Tyler, and I am player SErpicus. We are playing against player Dircome.
dircome is borg. you are fed and so am I

your intrepid is assimilated by Dircome. He breaks ur ship down at his unimatrix and gets the added adaptation of 10% to all intrepid class ship attacks against ALL his borg ships.
That adaptation will apply to your fed ships, not mine since he hasn't assimilated my fed intrepid - regardless of Avatar.

In regards to the number of ships, I merely meant that we wont be assimilating all 100 or so of each player and each race to adapt the borg to all. Hence balance should not be much to gripe about.
