Considering the game balance, I think it`s pretty decent right now. Just to add a bit of flavor and canon-like abilities I`d like to suggest that Borg could actually gain experience and progress similar to other races.
New experience gain would consist of primarily assimilating enemy weasels. In Star Trek movies and series, the Borg gained most of their vast knowledge through assimilation of other worthy species and their distinctive technologies.
The general concept should be: once the Borg assimilates the ship, it gains 75% exp of total ship exp pool. If they engage in direct combat, destruction of vessel would result in only 25-50% or normal exp gain (as other races benefit from) which derives from the fact that you can`t salvage much of knowledge and technology from space-ship debris. The numbers are not strict but the concept would encourage people to pursue a more direct Borg-style of play instead of blatantly massing out ships in order to crush the enemy fleet.
The experience should be shared through the entire collective, but to make it more balanced and non-instant bonus, make it have a timed delay/resource cost in which the gained information spread through the collective.

The only way i would consider experience for the Borg is if the exp was required for connections needed for research. Experience like a resource needed for research.
But I'm not a fan of the Borg in RTS like A1/A2 simply because it is incredibly difficult to do justice to the Borg and their assimilation of vessels/technology + adaption to weapons/shields without creating some sort of near impossible to defeat monster-race.
For now i propose what the upcoming patch brings for all races including the Borg, but adding experience similar to other races seems like a bad idea.

why not localize assimilation, THE vessel that assimilates a sovereign class gains 10% resistance to a sovereign class' weapons and abilities. and let it stack up to 50% or something that way you only get a super ship that has earned it. its not completely cannon but it sounds better than both sides to me. and as a perc if the resistance gets to 50% you get the option of funneling that into learning that ships special ability instead of having the resistance?
