I dunno if some1 posted this already but ill do it anyway:)I think this is the last bigger thing i dont like in this game. When u attack enemy ships why does my ships go like face to face to enemy and start shooting..?For example i have all long range ships and i give comand to attack for example enemy building they will shot from distance and then start moving to the target while shoting, until they are almoust touching it,whats the point of range at all then...?Why they just dont stand in line of their maximum range..I tryed press stop but after that they again start move on the taget..I know that im kinda pain in the ass but what can i do..:)

The movement autonomy settings should correct for this :) Green will have your ships engage where they stand, Yellow will have them move in as a fleet, and Red will have them move independently to engage.

Just to add a bit more detail to Dom's response, right now the settings look like this:

Green: ships do not move without a move order
Advantage: ship will not close when they don't have to
Disadvantage: ships with a limited firing arc will not always turn to face the enemy
Bug: sometimes ships will still pursue an enemy that fires on them and runs away.  For this reason many players put their scouts on green weapons autonomy as well as green movement.

Yellow: ships move as a fleet
Advantage: it's just easier to keep ships together
Disadvantage: awkward positioning.  For example. sometimes in order for the back row to get into range the front row ends up right next to the target.

Red: ships move independently
Advantage: more fluid movement than Yellow
Disadvantage: single ships can be provoked to leave their fleet, ships fly closer to the enemy than they need to.

The entire system could stand some improvements, but after a while you learn to get the little suckers to do what you want most of the time.  Keep in mind, if you have a numpad on your keyboard you can cycle through all these settings with a single keystroke.
