Automatic power reroute/reinforce

I was thinking along the lines of trying to come up with a way to add a bit more chaos and less predictability in the automatic targeting AI. I understand the logic behind concentrating power on the weakest vessels (generally speaking) and how that is a perfect strategy as the game exists so I thought about how to make changes that might make sometimes engaging other ships (besides the weakest) viable as well. My thoughts were of an autonomic boost to offense for ships that are not engaged (or not engaged for a period of time such as the cool-down for re-crew on appropriate vessels. This boost would be minor, but might be significant enough to warrant some ships focusing fire on non-engaged vessels to suppress it. On more powerful vessels it should certainly prove viable as they would (or should) gain the largest reroute of power from defensive systems.
I can imagine there would be a bit of complexity involved, but I think the rewards of gaming enjoyment would be worth it. Strategies would have to be adjusted and new AI logic as well. The advantages of multi-targeting vessels would be more relevant as would smaller/weaker vessels in mid and late stages of the game.
Anyways, was just a thought and I wondered if it was possible and if there was merit to such a concept to make it a possibility some day.

So unless i am mistaken you propose to have ships variable stats in offense/defense depending on their profile.
E.g. offensive value (engaged) - offensive value (Un-engaged) or as the targeting is done by the defensive value defensive value (engaged) - defensive value (un-engaged)
E.g. for a Saber this could be offensive 11-13 / defensive 12-15.
The idea is interesting, but IMO there should be some drawback because that power has to come from somewhere. Decrease in avoidance, weakening sub systems etc.
