Asteroids!

I think that it would be cool if asteroid fields were considered more like nebulae in disguise. It has all the behind the scenes characteristics of a FO nebula (maybe a slow chip away damage effect like someone mentioned) but looks like an asteroid field. The field could contain mainly dust and small rocks so then you could just manually place larger asteroids on a rock by rock basis if you wanted them.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Do nebulae use models or just textures?

What about something a little different to represent the fact that ships can in fact travel safely through all but the densest of asteroid fields?

I was thinking something like... Reduced movement speed and half sheilds.

Yeah sounds good. Maybe just slow shield regeneration and ship speed.

maybe it could even be implemented, that torpedoes sometimes sometimes crash into an asteroid, but it would most like not possibly..

Just increase torpedo and pulse miss chance?
