I think that the Borg should get something for Assimilating other's ships.
What I mean is ... let's say a Vorcha is Assimilated I would think that the Borg would improve the Vorcha ither with slightly increased stats or enabling the ship to regenerate. When ever you see them take something it gets better, beyond just looking Borgish.

Now I'm not suggesting a massive ship upgrade (of course that could be a way to go have assimilated ships have a "Borg Refit" button and spend resources to totally Borg-out the captured vessel) just give it something a little extra even if it's just giving the ships some of the attributes of the Borg or increasing attributes by 5.

Though I thing the Borg Refit idea is the more interesting.

On another note Considering the Modular nature of the borg I think taking off the Modual resrtiction would be good I mean of you have 3 slots and you want to use them why be limited further by having your selection dictated for you. It's self-balancing You still pay for the Moduals and your getting more versitility.

Thanks For Reading

Oddly, I'd kinda like to build a cube sometime with nothing but 6 regeneration modules.  I'd nickname it 'The Bullet Sponge' and use it to tie up Dominion Hard AI for a little bit.  ;)

sadly it wont let you... the best you can do is a couple tactical armor modules, a regen module, and 3 or so holding beams.

I'm aware of this.  The OP suggested letting the borg use any available module in the slots.  So if you wanted to build a very, very fragile cube with just 6 torp modules so that it 1-shotted most things, but could be chewed apart in no time due to no system or defense bumps, you could.

That would be nice, but by that point, there would be so many odfs that it would just be better to take the time to modfy the engine so that it could all be done programmatically.

well then FO will cease to be a *legal* mod and activision will sue Doca Cola and Optec and we wont get any more updates.

ooooooops, i meant "modify" the engine as in the way the FO team has been doing it since after (wuzzit beta 2? 3 pr?)... it would be a lot cleaner of a solution than 5 hundred files for each ship. (We'll get to be able to modfy the engine in only 2028 though, right? i thought that was when the copyright is supposed to expire on armada 2)

Mmm, isn't that what they did do for 3.0.6 (or maybe they are planning it for another version? To make things load more quickly of course  :woot:)

Wow that post was fast. Anyway, they DID make loading faster here, what do you mean by modiy the engine?

the number of odfs is not that relevant. the gameplay classes have to be created, if they are created from several files or from a single giant file wont change anything performance vise, it might perhaps reduce the loading a bit due to lesser file handles that have to be managed, but i don't think you will even see the difference.

If i mod the game i will see the difference... :D :D :D :D

as we do not work much on the odfs directly, but generate them, thats not a high priority for us :whistling:

perhaps some time in the future
