An adaptive idea...

I was watching "Endgame". And I got an idea, what if we had a collective feature that enables almost all Borg ships to have the ability to scan for weaknesses of a specific ship. This will greatly boost damage to that specific class ship for not much more than a few seconds.

In order to put a cap on its capabilities, it can only be done once per every 60 seconds per ship. Boosts go no higher than 30%. But of course another related idea is maybe this replaces the Order to Chaos ability. Just that I'd like this to be maybe on the Borg's more prime ships (Cubes, and Spheres).

Well, if you have order to the chaos or adaption, the difference is huge. While attacking a single ship or having the bonus against all ships around you is a major balancing factor. I'd like to see another thing:

You assimilate a ship and put it into a borg yard for decomission. After this process is done, you gain a bonus against this ship.

stock A2 had a technology assimilator which is the same form of idea your looking for, only for a minute at most instead of gaining special abilities. would the idea destabilize the balance with this temp increase of 30% in the middle of a fight with another player? 30% is a little too high and the duration is a little long, 45 seconds at 10% would be a good deal, cant make the Borg more powerful then they are with their superior repair skills and adaptive abilities.

i can make the difference between hitting the shields several times for a certain annoying ship or using the ability and end up destroying the ship within those seconds, in the same process if you had two beams firing, several others would be destroyed as well instead of usually taking a few hits over maybe 10 seconds. 10% would be nice as you still get your idea and approved by me without taking too many kills in one go :thumbsup:.

This would certainly make the Borg near-immune to spam. Maybe make it last one minute with 15% damage increase to the particular ship and immunity to its special weapons.

Hmmm....
one minute cooldown...
3-5 second effect tiimer...
20% maybe?
And have cool down increase with smaller chassis. Tough I do like the fact that it adapts just to one class when used. Sure spam might be sponged, but it just encourages more variety. :)

there should be a borg buff that makes a borg ship immune to all special effects, in exchange fire rate and fire damage is reduced by half...

use multiple holding beam modules and you will be close to immune, special weapons will have very little effect lol.

imagine your enemy's surprise when they use critical shot (or any other weapon disabler) on your cube but it restores the weapons system quicker than they thought it would.

I like this idea a lot, but I think it should be only available if you have a mixed tech yard from the certain race you are facing.

I had the idea yesterday about a possible additional feature for Borg for their ranking up "experience" replacements. I had the inspiration from World of warcraft, anyone know Nether Protection? "35% chance that spells used against you grant nether protection reducing damage received by 60%" Basically while fighting and getting hit you often get a shield with reduces damage received from the spell type used against you (fire, ice etc) How does this translate to Armada 2? When Borg ships level up they receive this nether protection type ability but renamed to adaption.

Basically steamrunners pounding on you with their tricobalts then this nether protection triggers reducing their damage by 60% allowing you to strike back and stay in the fight. Could do it anyway you want 60% to all damage when its triggered, 60% to just federation phasers/torpedos or even as specific as 60% against that particular ship class or weapon file.

60% is just the one used in WoW ofc could scale it up/down for balance but as you level the chance for it to trigger and damage reduction percentage should increase and there, you have your borg experience system? How's that? Is it even possible to have this % chance to trigger stuff, must be righ tI mean torpedos miss sometimes too.
