I liked this A1 feature because you could instantly switch sides when the game twists. Though its original build up was rather hard to manage. So I propose a modified version for Alliances mode.

At Setup:
When you switch to alliances mode, then at the screen instead of "teams" it will say "alliance" you can choose any existing alliance groups or select N/A meaning that you are on your own at the beginning of the game.

In Game:
Now it may be confusing maintaining mixed tech on this mode, so maybe it could be disabled, or changed. Anyway, when in game, at the Comm menu you can instantly form alliances. If you want to switch to an alliance, those who are already members of it will recieve a request. They can either accept or deny. If you were to leave an alliance it wouldn't require other people's opinion, it would be instant. This can be nice because it always makes you watch you back. :shifty: Now, there is the ability to become neutral, this cancels out any alliances of anyone and marks you as neutral.

End Game:
After the game the final results are tallied. There is a section that shows stats of who was allied with whom in the game, and for how long. If the person was allied the entire game than instead it would just be labeled "Permanent Ally".

This is already in... it just doesn't work for the AI.

Multiplayer. It's only available there.

If you go into multiplayer, turn it on, save settings then it will be active in Instant action.

Indeed Tyler :)

I think that the feature is being planned to be added back in for IA (didn't Doca state something to that effect several weeks back?)

GREAT!!!! wish I known that i could do it before  :woot:  :sweatdrop:

anyway, in armada I the only problem the AI had was determining when to change the stance of it's aliances. for example, I'm their ally and then I start killing them, they would still see me as an ally! but mabey that can be fixed, even if it cant it is still a nice feature.

EDIT:
Uhh.... WHERE IN MULTIPLAYER?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I cant find it  :on2long:

here is a picture of the advanced options menu, as you can see it's not there! and I don't see it anywhere else, by the way I'm using 3.0.7

Hehe, that's what the guide's for: glad it helped :)

I'm not too sure it should be moved though, as it is grouped with a bunch of the other map settings (such as Assault etc).

Though could there be some edits to its works? Because lately I think having it work like how I described it? Because the dynamics of A1 Alliances didn't always work. Because those computers acted as if still my enemy even though I switched sides. :(

AI would never change relations no matter how you viewed them.

However, the way aliances were set up before the game in Armada I worked better (aganst the AI) then they do now, even if it was a little confusing.
