Just so you know, even if they had the source code, there would be no real way to implement changes legaly. Id hyst sudgest looking to a new engine to movie to after 3.0, with concepts, models,textures, sounds already heavily in production/completed, it woulent be alot of work to move engines (all right it would be a hell of alot of work redoing all the coding) and would giver further room for expantion.
