Hi,
Aside from the Federation, no other race's AI is building capitals.
The borg dont build cubes, klings no Neghs, Dom no battleships, Roms no warbirds/norexans/tavars
The settings are the same default settings as on installation, with the exception that game difficulty has been changed to "hard" from "medium"
What am I missing?

Whilst I have yet to see a Borg AI build anything stronger than an Assimilator, I regularly see Romulan AIs with Tavaras and Dominion AIs with battleships... I also see Klingon AIs with Negh'Vars, but less often because the Klingon AI doesn't seem all that interested in large ships, though in generally does build at least a few...

I noticed this too. The AI is either limited to building light warships on levels easy and medium, or they research the chassis chassis upgrades very slowly.

They're just slow, they will all build battleships (the borg take the most time, I discovered this while playing Romulans and playing a lovely game of cat and mouse to find out what it is the AI does in its spare time)USS Constellation wrote:I noticed this too. That´s strange.
It takes time that´s right.
I have modified the AI because I think it´s not realistic to build such huge amount of battleships.
I have been defeated by all Races on hard AI except the Borg (I don´t like Borg, so I never use them) because dozens of Neghvars, Dderidex or Dominion Battleships blew up my fleet and stations within seconds after they entered my area.
Yesterday I had a 5 hour game with Roms as my allies (unfortunately I forgot to make them higher than easy AI) vs. Klingons vs. Dominion.
The Roms disappeared after less than an hour, the Klingons were defeated after 3 hours (only a mining complex with 3 freighters remained) and I was able to kill the Dominion after 5 hours.
They had built 3 bases and lots of yards, so they sent enormous amounts of fleets against me.
They blew up nearly all my mining facilities and then destroyed my secondary base after a quite short time.
The only way to defeat them was to have 5 mining stations concentrating mainly on dilithium, 3 Fed Commands to warp in additional vessels and building yards near the opponents bases to gain short ways for support.
Because I was modding A2 myself, I know how the AI is working.
The resource moons are essential for the AI strategy, the more powerful they are (Fleets, bases, stations around them) the more threatening they are for the AI and so they attack them.
Having only one mining facility with two freighters is better than building sensors and defense platforms around your moons, because this makes them less interesting for your opponent AI.
And so I built a kind of super complex with all my bases and yards protected by lots of defense platforms.
This had been like a honeypot, the opponents concentrated their attacks with all their power on this area and ignored my small mining facilities.
I placed a strong fleet in two lines to defend the area and built attack fleets to eliminate the opponent bases one by one, starting with destroying his mining stations to weaken his ability to build large ships.

The old trick from the preview Version still works: Destroy the starting Starbase of the AI and then it is over - no matter how many additional bases they might has build, they will stop building anything the moment the starting base is destroyed. The'll just finish the orders given to constructors and yards before the destruction.
The building of capital ships will often never happen - the AI rebuilds all of the ships that has been destroyed. If all the smaller ships keeps being completely destroyed, they rebuild them instead of moving on to better ships.

The AI is a suspect to change in Fleetops 3.1 or maybe in a Patch.
We are aware that the AI is a little to weak, but changing the old stock AI is a hardwork, because of our little different System in Fleetops, so please be patient

I am really looking forward to this.
Did you have success in building a race specific AI?
It would be nice to play against fearless Klingons, perfidious Romulans, cautious Federation and so on.
Quite hard to realize, but it is worth the work.
I had some good experiences with that a few years ago.
Didn´t I give you my docs and file?

Yes, very hard goal, but we working on it in a long term, so don't expect that a massive AI change in next time.
At the moment Optec works on optimising the acutal system, here i think we can expect a better AI

Works in my game, I constantly get spammed by AI Capital ships.

its just a matter of time ^^.
i got wiped by the medium AI in the first game i played, and that was a well mixed fleet with defiants, excellsiors, sovs, remores, akira, steamrunners etc.

yeah, this is what I said. I see the feds building up and launching the Sovs, etc. It's the other racecs i dont see.
If indeed it takes time - the question then is why are the feds NOT taking that much time, while ALL other races in the game are?

i also got owned by the romulans one time, cause they came in with the tavaras and a few deridex&generix etc.
i think the reason for the other races is, that you have to buildup a few techbuildings first, so the priority changes a bit, and that then leads to the delay in time needed. but i dunno, thats just a wild guess

would I then need to change the AI build settings?
Did any of you guys who see the capital ships from the AIs change those settings?
