can i please ask that you re program the ai to priotise, I'm fed up of telling a fleet of ships to leave the miners alone and concentrate on the fleet of battle ships pounding them in to space dust!

your fleet will go after the minners first because (i think, havent checked for a bit) the intrinsic value for them is quite high. the intrinsic value is what is used by the AI to prioritise its targets. So thats not really an AI problem, if the intrinsic value for the frieghters is lowered a little then your fleets should (in theory) go after the others first

i agree with you man , they should save the miners fore last thing , and handle the most dangerous ships first...

another problem we have seen before, last game in fatc there was me, skitz lumpy and actros playing, and the ai sat there and built ships etc but it was waiting for us to fire the first shot, we had build up fleets before one of our ships fired on them which they then went berserk. but they had not even scouted us out, we was starting to think they did not know we where there lol

yes that whas strange thing to happen .... most of the time the hard AI is at your base in no time ...
but this time we started thinking the AI was not even there
untill i scouted them
but this time we started thinking the AI was not even there

well, it sure was an interesting game wasn't it, wouldn't it be nice if AI actually changed tactics from game to game?

Would be very nice if AI would learn out of each game and ones actions. Simply a REAL artificial INTELLIGENCE. Saving a players preference of ships built and trying out some new tactics like flying not stright towards the enemie's base but attack from behind or so.

hehe REAL AI; you that something like this eats a lot of performance, because the code for it has a whole lots of iterative steps; if your interest into that stuff look on google for ANN (aritifcial neuronal networks or Korhonen-Feature Map, or the "travelling-Salesman-Problem") the other way to approach would an "expert system" ->these are a set of rules and a engine compares the current stat and applies the rules, that matches the best, I think eats also a lot of performace

well thats a bitt to mutch out of reatch i think ... if they learn from your actions ....
but i like it when they would just be a little bit smarter .... cause they just send there ships to the enemy base ... but they have some strange attack priorities
they start attacking the phaser array at the end of the base and b 4 they reach that phaser array, half of there ships are damaged and destroyed ... and then when the phaser array has no shield left they gonna attack some other useless ships ...

the only grumble I have about the ai, is the easy ai never seems to want to get past the first ship yars series of ships and sticks to cruisers and destroyers, the medium ai does a balance of all the major ship types, (seemingly). and the hard ai jumps straight to building nothing but battleships, mabye just a look at atleast the easy ai to ensure they start going past base level vessles ^_^ just a thought
